In theory that's supposed to happen, in reality, I'm a bit out of shape and smoking doesn't help.  :(

i've been running for 2 weeks now (yeah, i know i said back in may would start  :D )

but it feels good. Started the first week walking 5 mins and then jogging 1 min. Did that 3 times a session, 3 times a week.

This week i've been walking 4 mins jogging 2.

Will up it to 3 mins walking, 3 mins jogging 4 times a session next week.

Good to see you back running Dun,  I have done so much running this year it has been unbelievable but unfortunately that was all before my wedding and as you know once you give it up for a few weeks it's so hard to get back into. but I have got back into it the past few weeks just a few half an hour runs about 3 miles at the mo until I'm ready for more. Been tonight but the only thing about when you run is about half an hour later your starving and you eat anything

:D

Make sure your doing plenty of warm up stretches if your doing it for that duration

:D

Only kidding,  you will get there bit by bit and you feel the benefit of it believe me

I usually go a few times each week. Anything from half an hour to an hour, depending on how I'm feeling. I'm not a'rsed with distances or intensities any more, I just go for long as I feel like it and enough to maintain a decent level of fitness. It can be a bit of drag after a while but I tend to mix up the routes I take - all cross-country; better for the lungs and better for the knees.

that's my plan.

I know if i just jumped in and started doing 30 min runs from the off i would get knackered and bored v quickly and give up.

However, this way i get into it gently. Also invested 60 quid on a pair of running shoes. Went to a local running shop, expecting to pick a pair and walk out...instead they had my on a running machine in the shop testing the shoes to see how my feet land. They had a camera to video my feet and everything. People in the shop must have had a right laugh at me running in a suit with trainers on

Keep it up, it wont be long before you can increase your distances. You should check out local races in your area and pick one to like a 10k. It will give you something to work towards and a goal

Yeah im the same  :D

Its hard getting back into it but once you get over the first weeks it should all fall into place (I hope). Im just going to get my fitness levels back up now between and Christmas and then in the new year start training for a Spring marathon
