Somebody once said to me that once you have experienced a "rave" type atmosphere while being under the influence so to speak, every time you subsequently hear that type of music your mind and body is instantly cast backwards as if in a time machine.
I think they're right. i was driving to a little country town byt he name of Hororata yesterday which must be about 70km outside of christchurch. The road is pretty much poker straight and deserted, the scenery typically stunning New Zealand with the Autumnal hues and breathtaking views of the Southern Alps. On the stereo as I was bombing along I had God is a DJ by faithless. Bouncing off the inside of the motor I was, whilst in my head I was in "The End" off Tottenham Cort Road, fizzing rerady to pop. Music does indeed paint a picture sometimes.

He he! Bigmick was a raver :D

Good thread btw !

Talking about dance music, whenever i hear 'For what you dream of'..cant remember the artist?
Its a dance tune,it was also in trainspotting playing in the club when Renton hooks up with that cute Schooly.

Well anyway that takes me right back to Kellys in Portrush when i was about 18.About 12 of us used to head up for the weekend once a month...I wont get into detail but we were a bit mental!

Whenever i here that tune now(very raely)it brings a huge smile to my face and a great memory always comes back, different ones every time.
Also gives me goosebumps!
What a tune :buttrock  :buttrock

 @ Barry. Kellys was'nt somewhere I went to often. Always ended up in a bad way and could'nt get round it for a few days. The Arena in Armagh was the place to be seen in and the music was brilliant. 2 funky 2 - bothers and sisters, JX - there nothing i wont do, Rythmic State - soap on a rope!!

Was listening to that last night - got it on my Mix on Windows Media Player.

If you can get it, try the Supperclub Album 1 (White album), heard it first in Amsterdam.

I think "Airport" by The Motors was my first memory of a song.
Think it was out in 1977.

Songs that bring it back for me:

I Don't Like Mondays - Boomtown Rats: First single I bought

Beat Surrender - When The Jam split I thought music was gonna end.....!!

World In Motion - New Order: Driving through Hendon to an England v Uruguay pre Italia 90 warm up, a bloke stopped alongside the car and gave me a cassette through the window, he was a promo man for the record company and he said "this is gonna be massive mate"..... best footie record ever? probably

Step On - Happy Mondays: Just joined the Cops in '89 and got posted to Todmorden, only 30 mins away from the Madchester scene.... couldn't believe my luck, queued for 2 hours to get into the Hacienda and became an indie fan from then on......

Memories..... Quality!!

the run up to italia 1990 was the dogs bollox, with all the madchester tunes - happy mondays hallelujah, stone roses foolsgold, northside shall we take a trip, all the 808 state stuff etc. there's so many cliches about the hacienda but that place really was legendary. first went there in late 1989 and it just blew my head off it was that special. f*ckin hell i've got a big grin on my face just thinking about all that again :D

and world in motion was indeed the finest footy song ever written

anyone remember this beast of a tune from 1988?

stakker humanoid...
