Just watched "John Wick"

Normally Keanu Reeves movies don't float my boat BUT this one suits his "plank" style of acting. I might even watch it again as 20 minutes in I'd already lost track of the body count.

A bullet ballet virtually from the very off right to the end. Deffo worth the watch if you're not bothered about something light on storyline but heavy on action.

time for Dawsons Top3 films of 2014

3: Nightcrawler - Oscar nominations just come out. how Gyllenhaal didnt get nominated is a joke, outstanding performance! Creepy film, everyone great in it.

2: Interstellar - Nolan can do no wrong in my eyes. It was kinda long and I actually miss intermissions but you just can't fault this guys story telling ability

1: Her - Joaquin Pheonix is THE best actor of this generation. Everything he does is gold (crazy musician excluded) Scarlett is as gorgeous as a CPU as she is in anything else and Spike Jonze shows he should write all his own scripts!

Not sure what your definition is of "this generation"  ?

Great actor Joaquin certainly is BUT what about Leando Di Caprio, Ed Norton and at a stretch (if their DOB fits your generation net) Johnny Depp , Russell Crowe AND the brilliant  Phillip Seymour Hoffman !!!

:eyebrow

Watched "Whiplash" last night.

If like me you like drums and jazz it's a must see.

Even if you don't like drums (you freak !) or jazz it's still one of the best things you'll see on screen this year !

Yep, better than all of them. Watch The Master, you won't see a better performance, wipes the floor with PSH

All the actors you mentioned are great, but in my humble opinion Joaquin is in a league of his own.

Although, after seeing Birdman at the weekend I still put Ed Norton up there with him!

Birdman is a bizarre movie. I'm still scratching my head not sure if it is the best movie I have ever seen, or the worst. The drums alone freak me out. You gotta see it though

this was also totally brilliant, but i'm a hopeless jarmusch fan anyway...

ed norton is a better actor than joaquin phoenix, but daniel day lewis is better than all of them put together

Daniel day Lewis? Overrated

Gangs of New York - that accent is laughable, he's a caricature. There will be blood, basically just brooding and moody. Lincoln, a borefest with good make up.

I like DDL don't get me wrong, but he is a one trick pony. Comes out every 5 or 6 years to play basically the same character.

Watch The Master (a scarier character than DDL could ever play), Inherent Vice, Her, even Gladiator he absolutely steals every scene. Walk the line, We own the night, buffalo Soldiers... even 8mm you just can't stop watching him.

Norton would be top, but he has also made so many stinkers (but is redeeming himself now he is with Wes Anderson)

all opinions :D

Seen the Equaliser and thought it was good. Denzel delivers as always. A good 7.5 out of ten  :nod

Has anyone seen the Interview yet  :unclesam:  :D

Yes took my daughter to see Paddington, pretty good but a bit short on the violence and a distinct lack of swear words.

I'm sure she was gutted  :D

Yes, kids these days eh. :D

Watched Interstellar last night. At almost three hours run time its perhaps half an hour too long, some of the on Earth stuff could have been condensed but nevertheless a superior Sci Fi movie worth the watch.

Watched another decent enough pop corn eater from Jason Statham last night.

Some good fight scenes choreographed by the legendary Corey Yuen

Fantastic American road trip movie shot in black and white.

No bullets or high budget CGI just a class film.
