Favourite Simpsons Episode or moment - Not a poll

As there are a million Simpons epsiodes out there at the moment since 1989-1990, I thought it would be better to post an open thread rather than  poll.

And also because (barring the FA Cup final) a successful season has now finished, we are going to need some stimulation apart from the World Cup to talk about on these boards during the summer.

So, your favourite Simpsons episode, or moment?

My favourite moment has to be when Maggie Simpson sneaks up on Homer in homage to the film Psycho, and bashes him over the head with a mallet.  Homer pulls some kind of curtain down, red paint pours down a drain and the camera pans away from his eye, as if he was dead to the world!!!!  All with the shrieking strings playing as a background music montage.

Just like Psycho.  Genius!!!

My favourite episode?  Got to be the Stonecutters episode where Homer discovers he's the leader of a secret society.  In case you have not seen it which I doubt, I'll leave it there for the storyline.

Best bits are where some hillbilly guy called Homer appears from the "No Homers Club" twice in one episode, where Homer is getting his portrait painted and the bit at the end full of monkeys.

Otherwise, watch it for yourself.

Honourable mentions also have to go to where Homer dives at Bart when Flanders is about to baptise him, and when Homer gets both arms caught inside two separate vending machines.

A great bit of one is....

Homer - "Bingo's my favourite game, I just don't know what to say when you win."

"Bingo."

Homer - "That's my favourite game, I just don't know what to say when you win."

"Bingo"

Homer - "That's my favourite game, I just don't know what to say when you win."

"Why don't you just say I've won?"

Homer -  "Bingo"

The best moment is deffo, without argument, the episode where Marge is addicted to the casino. There are two bits in here which are the top two for me.

That night, Lisa calls out for Marge.

Lisa: Mom!
Homer: Huh -- wha -- Lisa!  What's up?
Lisa: I just had a bad dream!
Homer: Oh, sure.  You just lie down and tell me all about it.
Lisa: Well, I know it's absurd, but I dreamed the bogeyman was after
me, and he's hiding under --
Homer: Aah!  Bogeyman!  You nail the windows shut, I'll get the gun!
-- So much for parental guidance, "$pringfield"

Homer runs into Bart's room: "Bart, I don't want to alarm you, but there
may be a bogeyman or bogeymen in the house!"

-------------------------------------------------

Burns continues to degenerate.

[Mr. Burns hold a model airplane]
Burns: Smithers, I've designed a new plane.  I call it the "Spruce
Moose", and it will carry two hundred passengers from New
York's Idyllwild Airport to the Belgian Congo in seventeen
          minutes!
Smithers: That's quite a nice model, sir.
   Burns: Model?
-----------------------------------------------------
and my other fav moment....

McBain's superior "We can't have you running around with that hand-cannon McBain. In this department we do things by the book" (holds up rule book)
McBain "Bye book" (shoots book to pieces)

Great question, but so hard to answer. I'll hear a quote and be like "oh yeah, that's my favourite" and then I'll hear another and say the same thing. But I do have a few that always remain at the top of my list.

The One where Homer is smoking weed always goes down well. It's funny because it's true and everyone who's spent time as, or with, a bit of a mash-'ead can relate to the stuff in that essay. The bit where Otto says "They call 'em fingers but... I've never seen them fing" is brilliant and I can watch that one over and over.

My top Simpsons quote?... Really tough that one. It's usually an Abe Simpson line like "Call me Mint Jelly, coz I'm on the lamb!" but he's had lots of classics. Ralph Wiggum is always a gold-mine, but the one line that makes me laugh and smile every time is from Milhouse. When Homer floods Springfield, you see Milhouse putting on his "flood pants". When he opens the door, Water comes in up to his ankles and he says "Alright! I'm bone dry!" or something like that, and with such enthusiasm and naive happiness he then says "Everything's Coming Up 'Milhouse'". He's so delighted, and it's so sad, but it makes you smile for some reason. Maybe it's because he's so hopeless and unfortunate in every other aspect of life that this little victory for one of life's natural losers is so heart-warmingly funny. Brilliant.

As a couple of extras, the best Itchy and Scratchy, imho, is "Scar Trek: The Next Laceration" (the one with the moon). My top Celeb appearance is David Byrne from Talking Heads because of his and Homer's anti-Flanders song and the bit when he falls into Moe's car where he is asked "Have you ever seen that film 'Misery'?"

Honourable mentions go to the Resevoir Dogs homage, All the B-Sharps stuff, Sideshow Bob's rendition of the score of 'HMS Pinafor" and the one where Lisa becomes a Vegetarian.

It's a fantastic show and I really hope that as long it keeps fresh, it never ever ends.

What about where Homer has that fight with Bart's bigger brother from the agency?

"You've been out gallivanting around with that floozy of a bigger brother of yours! Haven't you?  Haven't you?  LOOK AT ME!!!!"

"Boxing Day! What the Hell is that?!?"

There's a great bit at the beginning of that episode where Marge says to Homer "Don't forget to pick up Bart!!".  Bart is at football training.

Homer shouts "I'm on my way!!"

Cut to the TV.  Homer is watching Wheel of Fortune and the clue is "Popular Phrase"  The answer is "I'm on my way"

"What did you say, Marge?"

:D  :D  :D

I remember a moment during the show when Homer and Marge almost broke up which almost killed me..

I'm hoping you guys recall this?

-----

Homer writes a letter.

"Dude,

        Meet me in Alabama.

                      -Jesus"

Ned: "I'm coming Jesus!"

:wwww

-----

And of course, that Weird Al Yankovic song.

This song has to be up there with Homer's Mr Plow Rap and Nelson's version of Joy to the World.

:wwww

Little ditty
'Bout Homer and Marge
Her heart was as big
As his stomach was large

Oh yeah
They say love goes on
Long after the grilled cheese sandwich is gone

That's the story
'Bout Homer and Marge
Two folks I helped out
For a nominal charge

After Homer went gay
They patched up their schism
But the dude never dealt with
His alcoholism

Weird Al sayin'...

Oh yeah
The credits go on
Long after the viewer's interest is gone

Oh yeah
Weird Al had fun on this show
Even if it was just a brief cameo...   :wwww

-----

Anyone else remember the King of the Hill spoof?

:wwww  :bowdown

Comic genius..
