Just started reading "a season on the brink" by Guillem Balague, not got too far in but its a pretty good read so far.
I've been addicted to football books for a while. Just wondering if anyone has any must read football book recommendations.
So far the best ones I've read:
Bill Shankly
Psycho - The Stuart Pearce story,
Kevin Keegan,
Dalglish

Oh and the Robbie Fowler book was a good read as well, sadly it was written in the summer just before he rejoined so there was nothing about Liverpool under Rafa.

You put me onto it in the first place haha

All the Liverpool ones are good but my top 3 would consist of this, Fowler and Carra. I need to get round to Torres' one.

I've got something against reading autobiographies by players who are still playing, I know that I'm not getting the whole story.
I've been told good thing about the Carragher book but I'd prefer to read his tale once he has retired from being the most successful Liverpool manager ever.

Yeah I know what you mean mate, im surpirsed there isn't another edition of the Gerrard one out yet.

Carra is worth a read though, he has seen a lot still.

I love reading and listening to footballers talk about football. It's just so much better and refreshing than reading pundits talk :censored: ect..

I love hearing about all that stuff from the players, you get to see a side of it that you are never going to hear about in the press, I reckon its the only way of getting a feel for what life is like inside football. The John Barnes one was great but I'm biased on that as he was there throughout my childhood.

I prefer the darker ones, Tony Adams, Paul Merson and the darkest of the lot was Paul McGrath (still fukked up).

Probably, why I'm so cheerful  :D

The one Eamonn Dunmphy wrote about 40 years ago was good too, it was based on season, started off full of optimism and quickly realised they were krap. Also said that all footballers (including him) are selfish and want the team to lose when they are dropped and the guy replacing him to have a nightmare and then have to fake being gutted after the match.
