Forum decorum - One last opinion

Bad Bob locked the Who's gone thread 5 minutes too soon, I wanted to post the following comment.

Last night I dug out the 2005 Champions League Final match thread which we won despite Bermenstein not starting it.

First thing thats stands out is its only 47 pages and 937 posts. Since then we have many threads over 1500 and even 2000 posts long, match threads but also Rafa, Kuyt and Keane etc..
The second difference is if you read the CL thread, most of the posters have gone despite some being 1,000 and 2,000 message posters.
Third, the tone despite the match, the drama etc.. is so much more relaxed and generally positive. Read the more imprtant match threads and they wreak of stress.

In short, the forum traffic has become more hyper, tensed, personal and negative regardless of whether we are winning or losing.  Flamewars go on between posters and the level of venom against the manager or a particular player is just short of vulgar. People vent their frustrations on the forum rather than cope with them at home and post on the forum for the enjoyment of others. We have to get out of the habit of posting just to vent frustraation and moan.

Personally, I think we should go back to the 2005-06 threads and invite those lads to come back to regenerate a more open dialogue exchanges that made this place fun.

If I could ask all posters to consider one point before posting it would be "post for the enjoyment of others.'

My penny's worth and thanks for your attention.

Reginaldo, aka Ronaldo's brother.

Agree with Reg, and for my part I will think before I type...sometimes, unless I'm angry.

always try to think about what i am posting and what the reaction my post might get, i just try to look at how i word things, so that it doesn't get peoples backs up but i get my point across, not sure if i get it right every time but no one can get everything right all of the time

If some people embraced different senses of humour, the problems would halve.

Good point Reg. I will try to be more relaxed in future when posting. I think the extra stress this reason could have come about alone through how close we have gotten to the mancs. Naturally after so many years of not winning the league when you actually look like you are going to win it and then throw it away people can get rowdy. But im not saying that is the reason for all the stress, it just could be a contributing factor. You are still right though. :;):
