not really, its nothing compared to eastern europe, but the sectarian stuff is starting to get bad. But its only singing.. its not like throwing dead cows onto the pitch or the stuff you see in Italy and eastern europe.

Neil Lennon is getting some grief though

He is hated more than any man I can ever remember in the Old Firm, not even my Rangers mates seem to know why. There has been plenty of N Ireland players who showed up for Celtic over the years, none ever got the amount of crazy he's had dished at him.

The other side of that coin is of course is that hes a complete tool and goes out of his way to antagonize anyone and everyone but it still doesnt make the death threats, assaults etc OK. Its only f*cking football idiots get some perspective.

Probably be wise to call it a day, before some nutter does do him some serious harm.

The whole celtic/rangers thing up there truely is :censored: nuts.

I don't get why they attacked Lennon? did he say something bad about someone?

the stories I have heard today range from :

because he played for Celtic

because he said he wanted to play in an All-Ireland team (whilst still a Northern Ireland player)

because hes a pr*ck who purposefully antogonises Rangers fans / n ireland protestants.

becasue he was formerly an INLA member.

becasue hes been seen on video singing Irish rebel songs and spitting on Rangers flags.

None of the above statements have any evidence whatsoever to the best of my knowledge to back them up, and I have spent most of the evening hunting the bowels of the internet trying to find anything of merit to shine some light on the subject of why this man is such a hate figure. Personally I just think he is an easy target for bigoted people to join together in hating, and in this day and age, in a country as enlightened as ours that is truly sad.

If you shout "Neil Lennon" in parts of Glasgow in this day and age theres a good chance you will get stabbed, yet ironically if you tried it in New York on the 8th December 1980, you would have saved one of the Beatles.
