A very solid performance from Paraguay. Great team goal they scored. Excellent interplay between cabanas and the other two, and what a finish by the long-haired bloke. They hit the bar twice before that too. This was a comfortable 1-0 for them, very rarely threatened at the back and dangerous on the counter.

Argentina were appalling again, worse than they were in the Brazil game even. They created next to f'uck all and were generally very, very, very poor. They lacked direction, shape, fluidity, belief etc...the whole performance was just bad news. By the sounds of things Maradona is about to get the sack and that doesn't surprise me at all. With the talent he has at his disposal they shouldn't be turning out performances like that. It was woeful by their standards. They were :censored: in the extreme, basically.

ompletly agree with everything you say , they were shocking, He has got no idea how to set that team up , they were all over the place, no positioning whatsoever, At one point in the game Argentina was on a rare attack on goal, i counted six players behind there own half way line, disgraceful, Maradona does not have a clue im afraid , some of the most talented players in the world looked lost on that pitch, And its a shame because i dont think there gonna be in South Africa

As I understand it, this means they drop out of the automatic qualification spots and are looking at facing the 4th place side in the South Pacific federation or some such.  Maradona or no, I still back the Argies to see off Kirabati or the Samoans. :D

They have only won 6 out of sixteen matches and have lost just as many ?

Thats shocking, for a team with those players to be that poor is inexcusable.
They should be comfortably qualifying and then be one of the favourites as well with their squad.

well massive game now argies away to uruguay.
Can seriously see Argentina losing this, he has changed the side yet again with a different back four again.
Forlan will be too good for their defence and i fancy him to get the first goal.

0-1 Argentina. Scrappy game, scrappy goal, but they're through.

Probably the biggest rant against the press I've ever witnessed.

Maradona literally said this

"I have a message for the press, for all who doubted, for all who didn't believe, and asking forgiveness to the ladies here: Suck it. Keep sucking it."

Translated probably is not that an impact, but that's something you could tell someone in a pub, and normally that's the introduction to a fight. So saying it publicly, has been quite a shock. It's a declaration of war to the press. It will be interesting.

Also a classic this sentence:

Question: So you were affected by what the press said

"Not really, I was focused in the team, but my wife and daughters did tell me who gave me stick, and who didn't, who was the biggest son of a bitch, and who wasn't, but as I said, suck it".

:D
