But if he picks Carrick he might play well and then there may be a call to retain him. Play Hargreaves and no one will argue when he is replaced in next match. Its all part of my conspiracy theory :D

But that would cause media discussion which Sven doesnt want, about who to play Gerrard or Fat Frank. By playing Hargreaves there is no tactical problem to baffle Sven and no media criticism.

Beckham -SWP was pushed as a replacement so drop him from squad and bring in Lennon(novice) Rooney/ Owen - Crouch was very unpopular choice at the time and Walcott another novice. Lampard/Gerrard - Hargreaves another unpopular player or Jenas a novice. Carrick was gaining support so dont give him a chance.Neville - Carragher or Hargreaves, not their specialist position. This policy enables Sven to pick his team with virtually no media criticism, bring favourite players back from injury or suspension etc without much outcry about retaining their replacement.I.E. Who in the media will argue about replacing Hargreaves with Gerrard no matter how well Hargreaves plays against Sweden or that Crouch should regain his place at the expense of Rooney?

Not usually big on conspiracy theories, mate, but you just may have something there!  ???  :D

Well done Owen, I say.  He played all right and we didn't look like conceding from open play.

Agreed, he did the job without being spectular.  Since Sven clearly rates him ahead of Carrick do not be surprised if he plays that role again against Ecuador, especially with Michael Owen out of the picture.

I reckon he's guaranteed a place now against Ecuador, behind Gerrard and Lampard in a midfield five.  I can't see any other sensible way to go unless he uses Walcott.

F*cking sh*t game, saved by LFC yet again.

I've got to ask:

What the f*ck was the 'keeper p*ssing about at for Cole's goal? I could have saved that by blowing my nose!

"Ooooh - wonder goal from Joe!"

B*llocks - it was f*cking shoddy 'keeping.
