SO with the draw imminent, the seeding was announced yesterday with England rightly being included in the top seeded group.

Seeding as follows:

Pot 1 (seeds): South Africa, Brazil, Spain, Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Argentina, England

Pot 2 (Asia, Oceania and North/Central America): Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Australia, New Zealand, United States, Mexico, Honduras

Pot 3 (Africa and South America): Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria, Algeria, Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay

Pot 4 (Europe): France, Portugal, Slovenia, Switzerland, Greece, Serbia, Denmark, Slovakia

Interestingly I'm sure they didn't separate the non-seeded teams by region before?

This effectively means England could have a draw in the two extremes. They could either draw the worst from each region or the best.

Example:

Good Draw
England
North Korea
Algeria
Slovenia

Bad Draw
England
USA
Paraguay
France

Thoughts?

Good Draw:

Spain

USA

Uruguay

France

---

Yes it is a tough group but if you want to be champions you have to go through any group.

I want to leave USA out of the competition soon enough to avenge their last cheeky victory .

I want to leave France out for neighbour rivalry reasons and to go 20 Km away from where I am to banter with the fĂșcking french.

And I want Uruguay, because they're tough enough and I didn't like the game of 1990 so we owe them a victory.

----

After that, I would like England to tell them what we think of their physical strength and high rythm of the game. It would be nice.

After that, I want the Germans.

(Are we in semifinals yet?)

Then the Italians, and Brazil would be nice to end the competition.

England's worst scenario would be France, USA and Ivory Coast.

Just got a feeling Spain will get Portugal for some reason.

Unfortunately this group wouldn't be possible mate. Beside the four different pots there are also some further restrictions to the draw, ie teams from the same continent can't come up against each other in the group phase (except for the european teams as there are more than eight of them). This means South Africa and Algeria can't be drawn in the same group, as can Brazil/Argentina and the other south american teams not for instance.

whoever gets France is f.ucked.  They are clearly a step ahead of all the other countries in the general European pot.

Seems to me that most of the African and South American countries are about the same, maybe I would prefer Chile

I think the seeded nations will be praying to get NZ out of pot 2 and anybody but france out of pot 4.

And of course all the non-seeded countries will be praying to get SA in their group. Unfortunately for the African nations, that wont be possible.

Rubbish !
Were it not for the fact that we (Ireland) don't have a decent striker, they wouldn't even BE in South Africa next year...
They're nowhere near as good as the sum of their parts...

Are there restrictions for the groups?  I should be studying, but I'm procrastinating, so if there are no restriction, I did a fake draw :D.  Very surprised by it actually, no real group of Death, and South Africa actually has a chance of making it .  Funny group for Spain too.

Group A:           Group B:         Group C:
South Africa                   Brazil                   Argentina
New Zealand                 USA                    Japan
Chile                           Cameroon            Ghana
Slovakia                      Serbia                  Slovenia

Group D:          Group E:         Group F:
Spain                           Netherlands                Germany
Mexico                          North Korea               Australia
Paraguay                         Uruguay                  Ivory Coast
Portugal                         Denmark                   Greece

Group G:            Group H:
England                            Italy
Honduras                         South Korea
Algeria                            Nigeria
France                             Switzerland

Sorry I wasted Englands luck on getting a pretty easy group for a fake draw :D
