Not sure where this belongs, but I just read that Hansen will retire after the World Cup.

A shame, for me. Always liked him on MotD

Had his time in my opinion. Same as Shearer.

In his prime on MotD, his presence used to guarantee we had a good slot, no matter the relevance of the match. He's slipped down the pecking order in recent years though.

Hes not as good as he was, hes not as strong in his views but hes still the best IMO considering the limited time he has to speak, u gotta remember on MOTD you only get a few mins to analyse a game where on sky you get half and hour. If he was on Sky he would make a lot of the others look stupid with his amount of knowledge.

personally i think you only get a limited time as a pundit on any given show, to some of the new generations hansen comes's across as a bit of a dinosaur and i suppose the beeb want to freshen it up.

I 2nd that he must practise his routine before every MOTD. Anyway, they dont need him now, they've got...Danny Murphy.
He's prob made a few million quid too with his BBC contract. Gary Linekers on about 3m quid a year

he`s had a decent run, he must have been doing motd twenty odd years.
i think they`d be better off not having resident pundit(s) and having different guests each week instead.

Anyway, back on track, Hansen is like a civil servant the way he carries on. Same routine every week, same commentary...
Agreed they should tart it up, preferably with more continental guests. Give an outside view of the PL. sure most of the players are from outside Ingurland to start with...

Always liked Hansen, will miss his views on MotD as I always thought he was fair and balanced.
