He is the most successful manager in British football.

For achievements alone he deserves respect for that

As a person though - that's a whole different story

I see he's taking on a directors role... director of referees and the FA most likely.

Think this is the beginning of the end for the Mancs.  They don't really have the money to compete at the very top anymore and now with Fergie going and probably losing Scholes and Giggs very soon too.

Hope im right!!!

Yeah apparently Hermann Goering was a charming and witty dinner host as well

This is not the end or beginning but hopefully the beginning of the end of satanic peril

they wont go into freefall but they will be in the same boat as everyone else now.
he has been the difference, before he took over united had won just 7 titles, even everton had won more, but now it`s a case of welcome back to the real world man united.
whoever takes over wont win the title with that squad, they`ll have to spend.

Not sure they have the money anymore to spend on a very large scale and their squad is not as strong as the league suggests. I assume the likes of Giggs and Scholes will also call it a day soon enough too.
Also the new manager will be under a fierce amount of pressure.

If some of the other clubs can get their acts together I can see United being toppled.

Ferguson Will Retire!!!

Holy Sh*t this came out of nowhere.....

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news ... ed-confirm

"Sir Alex Ferguson will retire at the end of the season, Manchester United have confirmed."

"Scot to stand down after 26 years in charge at Old Trafford"

I never thought I'd see the day when he would actually step down.

ol whiskey nose was a top manager but he sure won't be missed round these parts. Although there were those times when we thrashed united & seeing his nose turn bright purple with him chewing furiously made my day.

I wonder if Mourinho will end up at United now & turn his back on Chelsea.

Considering the mutual appreciation and public displays of affection during the recent  MU V RM match I think Whiskey Nose's retirement and Maureen's appointment were sorted out months ago. The special one would love to wave two fingers at Abramovich and make Chelsea's life even more embarrassing after the Guardiola debacle. Just a thought.....

Never thought I'd see the day purple nose leaving the theater of queens, I'd gotten used to the idea the ole barstard e'd leave in a coffin with a bottle of his finest malt in hand.

I reckon Maureen's taking over. Hopefully (if appointed) his ego will be to their demise - it's time the scanks are knocked off their perch. Credit to Fergie, nobody really rivaled him domestically (Wenger and Maureen had their fleeting moments but that's about it) and he's up there with Paisley as the greatest British manager of all time.
