Chelsea - Comedy club

AVB, 16th February 2012
"They don't have to back my project. It's the owner who backs my project."

Peter Cech, 21st February 2012
"He prepares every game with 100% commitment and we appreciate it as players, but if you have players on the pitch making mistakes he can't help it."

Branislav Ivanovic, 23rd February 2012
"I think this is more about Chelsea, more important than the relationship between managers and players. Chelsea has to be first for everybody, first for everyone, to get a result."

Frank Lampard, 25th February 2012
"There have been certain issues. Certain players, we don't like not to play, but it's never a case of players throwing their toys out of the pram to the detriment of the club."

Peter Cech, 28th February 2012
"Everyone has been talking about a meeting between the team and Abramovich. The truth is elsewhere and the picture of that meeting was distorted.''

AVB, 28th February 2012
"We have been through the Torres situation before with Shevchenko and Kezman."

David Luiz, 1st March 2012
"There are no privileged people there. He [Lampard] simply has to listen to the coach when he gives orders and take them. No player can forget that they are just an employee of the club."

Antonio Sanz, 1st March 2012
"I don't think Torres has a problem, it's just that Chelsea aren't helping him find his form."

I feel sorry for AVB to be honest. He does come across as a very nice guy who is going around doing his job but with players like Lampard, Terry, Cole, Malouda and Drogba around, he'll never be in charge entirely.

It's an interesting situation and catch 22 for me. They have to stick it out with AVB and make it through the tough times. They currently have one of the most promising young managers in the game and if they don't show patience with him it'll hardly be an advert for every other top manager in Europe - well it might be for one who fancies one last pay out before he retires.

The clique in the squad needs broken up, Cole, Lamps, Terry, Drogs, Essien and the like. It's become a club for egos run by the players and that's what needs to change the most

There was an article on Soccernet on how Rafa is willing to join Chelsea. Won't be surprised if he does to be honest.

Doesn't look like they are playing for him. Kind of reminds me of how the influential players pretty much shut up shop playing for Scolari and after that his days were numbered. They surely have to stick with him, didn't Roman pay something like £10Mil+ to get him out of his contract at Porto?

I think he had a 17 million euro release clause that was paid.

Honestly I think he's one of the best managers in the prem. He's got a team of egos and older players who are falling out of their prime.  Drogba, Malouda, Terry, Lampard, even Cole just aren't as good as they have been in the past.

I think he has messed up a bit in really relying on the players who are Portuguese or who have played in Portugal, but many of them are younger and he's trying to play  a younger squad who can improve over time and be really good again.

Any manager in his right mind wouldn't touch that job with a barge pole. Massive egos in the dressing room that just do what they want, add to that an owner that has the patience of a toddler and you're on a hiding to nothing.

spot on. As previously mentioned, player power at Chelsea is killing the club...and it's not even good players, it's the old and washed up kind, like Lampard and Drogba.

redknapp was interviewed and he reckons they will push for mourinho in the summer.he would have no problems with the players where as rafa would and would look to shift most of them straight away or at least break up the click
