I think he was just trying to get the ball into the box.  The funniest part about that vid is seeing two of his teamates just put their hands on their heads just after it goes in.  Unbelievable goal...If he meant it.

To give the guy a little credit, he did flip it into the air to take it away from the defender and then tw.at it with a fine volley.  I'm sure he wasn't really trying to rifle it into the top corner but it was a pretty sweet bit of skill just to send it flying goalward.
