I'd like to know who these 'insiders' are as well.

Did these 'insiders' also react the same way when Benitez wanted to sign Carroll in 2006?

sorry for the late reply.

It was Graham Beecroft on Talksport who announced that insiders from the club were concerned over this signing. This was in February last year a few weeks after he arrived. Not long after that Mr Henry then fended off the criticism over the signing with the excuse that it was Torres money, and that the inflated fee was because of that deal. Even if it was, you dont waste it.

When news broke that we tried to sell Carroll in January i couldnt see how we could as there isnt a buyer. Prospective clubs that would be interested such as Aston Villa and Newcastle are not going to pay what we ask for. It was obvious we would have to wait until summer before anything can be done.

i`ve said it a few times, over the last 6-7 weeks apart from martin skrtel andy carroll has been our best player.
he was excellent tonight, and not only in attack, at one point he won two vital back to back headers in our box from felliani and he really threw his head at the second one, no one was beating him to that header.
his hold up play was great as well, and he even started putting suarez in with clever little through balls and spraying 40 yard passes out to the flanks.
that really was a good performance, he`s only just turned 23, he is going to be some player when he is 27.
people dont realise how far ahead of the curve he is for that type of centre forward, at carroll`s age sheringham was on loan from millwall at aldershot, crouch was at QPR and drogba was at guingamp, drogba didnt go to marseilles till he was 25/26 never mind chelsea.
well played andy

Less than 1 in 5.

As Jason McAteer stated after tonights game, had we had a top #9 this would be a very different season.

The link up between Gerrard and Suarez for all three goals was sublime. Both Sky and BBC were raving about the two of them. We are a long way short, but we buy a decent #9 and we will challenge for 4th place next season.

no denying if we had a top striker our season would be a whole lot better.
the link up between gerrard and suarez was good and hopefully they can link up more often like he used to with torres and more goals will come.
we do need to sign another striker also a mid and a winger and we will probably challenge for the league next season if they are the right people with the right influence.
andy also linked up well with gerrard and suarez and had a decent game tonight, could do with trying to stay on his feet a little bit more but hey,so could suarez.overall he had a good game and is improving.

One of his best performances for the club tonight, only thing missing was a goal. Whether it was winning headers for Suarez to latch onto, holding it up and playing it simple, or playing some clever and technically difficult passes to open up the opposition, he was much improved.

If he keeps that up then he may have a future at the club, though whether that's as a regular or not depends on whether he can add goals to his game.

Remember that Toshack used to score twice as many goals as Keegan, so whipping in headers is not enough. The numbers 9's job is to score goals, what he does at half time, I don't care.

ya imagine if we still have one of the judas here... surely we be in top 4 now, even challenging for the title.

Yet our squad is terrible, blah, blah, blah!

The matter of truth is that we've dropped so many points through our inability to score goals.

If Dalglish brings in a Mario Gomez type of striker in the summer, someone who will bury chances, you'll see us challenge for a top four spot. If Kenny can also bring in a creative dynamo in midfield, someone who can slot through balls into the strikers, can ping the ball across the ground from left to right and back again and someone who can get into key positions, we'll have a very good side. As Fowler says "stick with Kenny for the long-term", I echo his sentiments.

agree with this. i've been one of his harshest critics but yesterday he played his best game in a Liverpool jersey.

no doubt going by our bizarre selection logic this season he'll now be inexplicably be dropped for the stoke game

It's nothing new is it? Benitez used to drop Crouch and Benayoun a lot and they played well in a vast majority of matches.
