How good is he?

I watched the Newcastle v Sunderland game, and Caroll looked top class all game! Won everything in the air, tormented Titus Bramble and Turner, also got Bramble sent off. He was annoying the f*ck out of sunderland, had a hand in to 3 of Newcastle's goals. How old is he? 21? has a lot of potential and I think he deserves an England call up.

I would defo add him on my transfer watch if I was the Liverpool manager, I rate him, he will turn out to be a very very good player.

He's going to be an absolutely top player, the only perosn who can prevent it is himself. One of them who will end up being bought (for an absolute fortune) by one of the top clubs, and end up being a bargain in the long run.

gotta agree Mick, he's a bit hotheaded and may turn out to be his own worst enemy. He does look a top top prospect tho

I agree with this, but, I do believe if he has a proper manager who can get the best out of him and cool him down a bit (ala Ferguson with Rooney) he will be a very good player

His pace, or lack of, will prevent him from being a top player I think, but he will no doubt turn out to be a solid premier league performer.  I don't think he will be any better than the likes of a Kenwyne Jones or a John Carew.

Incidentally I saw him in a bar in Newcastle a few weeks ago, he's a big lad!

Another player who I consider to be "flavour of the month".

People pushing him for an England call up already. It shows the lack of ability and options we have upfront in this country when a lad, who lets face it is potential at this stage, is being touted for his country after playing ten games in the premier league.

Can't agree Mike. Occasionally one comes along and jumps out of the packet and surprises everyone. Carroll is one of them. I'd have him at Liverpool in a heartbeat.

Flavour of the month. Overrated and nowhere near top quality. He's strong, powerful in the air but is otherwise a long way off. No thanks.

Agree with above poster - has done nothing as yet to be rated as highly as he is .
