Young and up 'n' coming... - Shelvey’s england teammates

After Shelvey’s performance last night (away in Napoli), and recently watching a clip of young Raheem Stirling’s skills, it got me thinking in to the young English talent we have at the moment, and who would be a good potential signing for Liverpool…

Shelvey along with Ngoo, Wisdom and Stirling all look like great prospects (Yes I know we’ve used that “prospects” word a lot but still, I’m being optimistic here)

Young English rising stars are always expensive, but as Shelvey is starting to show, maybe one or two might be worth it

Ones I reckon would be worth the higher transfer fee:

Phil Jones - Age: 18, Blackburn, defender

Jordan Henderson – Age 20, Sunderland, midfielder

Connor Wickham - Age: 17, Ipswich, striker

Nick Powell - Age: 16, Crewe, striker

thoughts?

why pay more for "english"? just get the right ones regardless of nationality. would johnson have cost 18m if he was from ghana?

no - I get get your point about buying the "right" lads irrespective of where they're from. However johnson wouldn't have cost £18m when he was 17.(incidently Portsmouth paid around £4m for him - not a bad piece of business by them!)

English talent is more expensive - but there are gems to be found, and I just wondered what people thought of the young english lads coming through
