are they still serving suspended sentences for the Obi Mikel and/or Ashley Cole thingys?

this could affect any appeal

That's exactly what will happen

Originally
Fiorientina were supposed to be relegated to Serie B – but didn’t after appeal
Juve were supposed to be relegated to Serie c plus a reduction of 30 points – but ended up in B with a reduction of 9 points
Fiorientina were supposed to be relegated to Serie B – but didn’t after appeal
Lazio were supposed to be relegated to Serie B with a 7 point reduction – but didn’t after appeal, and were only deducted 3 points

so I’m pretty sure this will be overturned / reduced as well

This is a FIFA decision, mate, the calciopoli punishments were administered by the Italian FA.

The best example I can think of is the transfer of Philippe Mexes to Roma. FIFA imposed a transfer embargo on the club a few seasons ago for a similar breach that was supposed to endure two consecutive windows, but on appeal I think it was reduced to just the one transfer window in January.

Anyway, they've 10 days to appeal to the CAS.

Good point, plus FIFA are the top dogs here so let's see how stern they really intend to be. This should add some pressure to them as now everyone will be expecting them to stay gelled as they can't buy.

They said if appeal fails only choice they have is euro courts but by time the paper work is done and there is room to deal with it could be sorted by 2012 and since the world is ending in 2012 then meens chelsea can't ever buy players agian.  :D

Must be a GREAT relief for Abramovitch.   I hear T&T immediately contacted UEFA/FIFA claiming they´re guilty as well.....

Will be amazed if they are going to get it reduced as they have already been charged twice for illegal moves towards players so its just deserves

Their squads age's in two years time:

Petr Cech will be 28
Branislav Ivanovic - 26
Ashley Cole  - 30
Michael Essien - 28
Ricardo Carvalho - 32
Frank Lampard - 32
Joe Cole - 29
Didier Drogba - 32
John Obi Mikel - 23
Michael Ballack - 34
Florent Malouda - 30
Jose Bosingwa - 28
Yuri Zhirkov - 27
Paulo Ferreira - 31
Deco - 33
Salomon Kalou - 25
Ross Turnbull - 25
Daniel Sturridge - 21
John Terry - 30
Alex - 28
Juliano Belletti - 34
Nicolas Anelka - 31
Hilario - 35
Sam Hutchinson - 21

Thats 13 players out of a squad of 24 who will be at the age of thirty or over. They will be well and truely screwed up to their eyelashes.

But they have already appealed and I dont think it's going to stand.

I'm delighted for them, they got what they deserved if thats what they've been up to, now if only they could catch the mancs at a similar game... :grinning:
