Unceremoniously lifted from : BBC SPORT .

Manchester United striker Michael Owen says he is confused by people's expectations of him.
The 29-year-old, who scored his third goal of the season in Tuesday's Carling Cup win against Barnsley, has been surprised by some of his match ratings.
"I started against Bolton and thought I played well, then looked at the papers and was given three or four," he said.
"But in this game [against Barnsley] I played pretty average and I'll probably get seven."
Owen scored with a clinical finish in the 59th minute at Oakwell in the fourth-round tie.
The former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker received ratings around the seven and eight mark for his performance.

Maybe its because  after your infamous pamphlet depicting in cringe worthy detail how much of an asset  you considered yourself to be ,the papers and fans alike now see you as a bit of a  JOKE  (just a thought Michael ) only a suggestion but maybe you should change your name to........ Must B Loved

I seriously pray this odious little Hobbit' s career takes a critical nosedive and he is left with the ignominy  of a terminal slip into obscurity ...

 It's rather embarrassing how much he seems to think about his own image and how it's being portrayed in the media. Poor little Michael is just so desperate to be an all-England hero again... won't happen ya :censored:

Made me laugh when the commentator said "that's why he should be on the plane to South Africa" after he scored.

Yeah because at the World Cup the defences will be of the standard of Barnsley. ???

People seem to have got carried away after his Champions League hattrick against Wolfsburg. This one football betting expert reckons he will be top scorer in Europe, this all after one good showing.

Good response to this on BBC

2006: Here's a good stat: Michael Owen has scored four goals in the Champions League group stage. So have Liverpool.

From Elliot in Northampton, via text: "Re 2006: Here's another good stat, Liverpool have won the European Cup five times. Michael Owen has won it 0 times."

David Platt done my head in last night.
Talking about our lack of options in attack the commentator said perhaps liverpool fans will have been watching united last night and seen Michael Owen scoring those goals and thought what if.

Platt then replied to be fair though he would never have gone to Liverpool ahead of united would he.

Cheeky fat hamster headed fecker.

No doubt this particular thread will be resurrected intermittently  coinciding with Liverpool's decline ,or maybe he will just die suddenly through choking  on Fergusons bum hair :D

liverpool and rafa have apparently got no money and owen was on a free, he should  have signed him simple as that, but because he is stubborn he wouldnt swallow a bit of pride.

on another note though owen had the chance to join us before he went to newcastle, so i'd say some liverpool fans hate him.

and a hatrick against a depleted wolfsburg side doesnt gain him entry into the world cup squad imo.
