cant be that good can he? i mean they got relegated after all :p :p
funny that the 3 england keepers are robinson (relegated), walker (relegated) and james (nuff said)
only kirkland (injury boy) is anywhere near the standard of premiership play our keepers should be at

Robinson is no good. Young english goalies are overrated. This has been the case for many years.

All these goalies have been the next big thing, all have been insanely expensive, all have failed. They are:

Ian Walker
David James
Paul Gerrard
Steve Simonsen
Richard Wright

I do not rate Kirkland or Robinson either and I think they will be in my list five years from now.

You can Hardly say he is being overated that was my whole point 1,5 million for a good keeper is nothing!

When do they stop being young keepers so they can be rated as good? 27-30 years old?

Ian Walker looked superb in his youth and with the right coaching could have been one of europes best the same goes for James and Richard Wright who is still a very good keeper now but is going the same way as the others.

Gerrard has never been the next big thing and Simenson hasn't either. Your ignorance towards the English is starting to really ****** me off, where are you from?

Robinson and Kirkland are the two best english goalkeepers and amoungst the top 4 or 5 in the league easily.

Why do you think Seaman has been number one for so many years? It is because the young english goalies have failed. Ray Clemence was the last good goal keeper and that is years ago. James is probably the weakest link in Euro 2004 as Seaman was the weakest link in WC 2002 (Anyone remember Ronaldihno?)

This is unfortunate.

banana has a point about teh seaman thing. Most of the blame must be put on the bigger clubs who dont give the youngf keepers the right chance and buy the next big european thing instead

James is a weak link.

Robinson or Kirkland should be in the team and neither of them would be.

Haha.

Why's that then?

What don't you rate about them?

Also, don't you think Seaman was a superb Keeper at his peak? During euro 96 he was tremendous. He was one of the best in the world in his time.

FK ME (drum roll ) I have to agree with Stu !!!!
At his "peak" Seaman was "probably"amongst the best GK's in the world .
Stop me if I'm getting carried away here.
There was a time when English keepers were considered to be the best , sadly not anymore.
What happend ?
And was "Calamity" really that bad ?
Anybody here ever played in goal ?, Not that easy when your Dfence has fkd off.  :(

Class keepers are class keepers no matter what defence plays infront of them.

Look at Schmeichal who in my opinion was the greatest goalkeeper ever.

He was amazing, everyone knew it, even when united defence wasn't to clever he was still regarded as the best.

The last true world class goalkeeper imo.

The only one who gets near Schmeichal in todays game is Kahn. Buffon and Toldo are superb but not world class and imo not capable of winning there teams games on a regular basis. Maybe they'll improve more, maybe they won't.

Kirkland has the ability and potential to improve and become as good as Seaman was in his day imo. Just as James did, he can do a James though and go one way or the other.

Kahn is so far past his sell buy date and is a liability.
Casillas is the best young keeper in the world.
Kirkland has the potential to be the best keeper in the prem if he can sort out his fragile body.
