Do we need a central midfielder?

I am by no means pushing the panic button here but consider the situation we are in at the moment.

Considering injuries, suspensions etc I would have thought it in our interest to buy a midfielder now for both this and next season.

Consider this, Alonso is out for the season, Gerrard may be gone next season, Hamann and Biscan are out of contract. Any new player will need time to settle in, even more so if coming from a different league. I realise that the players we have bring different qualities but I'd be looking to bring a midfielder in now.

As for who, I don't really know. Van Bommell springs to mind.

Any suggestions?  ???

wouldnt say no to van der vart or ballack
wed know more if gerrard did say he was leaving for definate, then wed know how much money wed have.
it cant be that abd though as we eagerly got rid of diao.
Hamman and biscan will sign new contracts. We got warnock and partridge and foy coming through.
no alarm bells ringing yet but it all coems down to what epopel do, and we need to knwo sooner rather than later

I also think that our midfield lacks some depth. Without taking off any credit from our academy graduates, i realise that we are left with no central midfield cover apart from Igor Biscan.

With Xabi Alonso not coming back this season, i think that we, at least, need some experience backup in the middle of the park.

Our forthcoming came against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League is going to be a tough one, with Steven Gerrard apparently suspended. Rafa will have only two options available in Didi Hamman and Igor Biscan. I think that we should get another central midfield man as backup.

Maybe we should get Aliou "Vieira" Diarra back. What u all think ??

Anyway, i would prefer to have someone like Pablo Aimar to create some offensive moves, but mind you that such a player will have a price tag bearing two digits on it and we can't afford such a sum at the moment.

We have so many midfielders out on loan we should bring them back. Diarra, Le Tallac nad Cheyrou. We should give them a chance to prove themselves in the latter part of the season and if they don't work under Raffa, get rid.

if we do get some money from the likes of cheyou, diouff, hammann or Biscan in the summer then i think we should use the money to get wesley sneider from Ajax.

Anyone other than Cheyrou please.... Aimar I like and nedved would be awesome or even Rosicky.

Nedved is out of the question, Aimar is unlikely but could happen if Edu goes to Valencia.
