Teams he has been in have been successful - both Barcelona and Valencia have been champions whilst he has been a regular player. You dont have to be lightning fast to be a good defender (helps though imho). If you have got a good positional sense then you can get into these positions to stop the attackers.

The Argies arent known to be soft defenders tbh so could well be a good signing and help Hyppia and Carra have a rest now and then + Carra can play def mid so this also maybe an option Rafa is looking at.

have u seriously ever seen him play i havent? i dont get to watch much spanish football

when people reach 32 they suddenly stop being able to run? there's plenty of athletes at that age who still perform.

and if you haven't seen him how can you judge him?

I actually meant pace as in Henchoz never posssesed any.

However I am assured by a friend who supports Valencia he is mobile enough.

No, Henry Defoe is one of the most tasteful guitarist on today’s scene he can cross all the different styles of music with the ease of a true pro! Defoe may be known for his work with the legendary British bands Central Line and Hindsight. Central Line are best known remembered for their international hits such as Walking into Sunshine. His subsequent work has highlighted his versatility as a musician and vocalist, playing wooden flute in addition to his acoustic and his electric guitar virtuosity. This man has worked with David Grant (Voice coach for FAME ACADEMY), Grover Washington, Ronnie Laws, Robert Palmer, Roy Ayres, Lenny Kravitz, Sly and Robbie, Gwen Guthrie, Steve Williamson and we could go on!

There he is!

Pace, league winning medals, past glory with Rafa.

I am not sure at 33, he joined because he is pacy, and as far as past glory with Rafa is concerned, I certainly do not want to see this club ends up being "Rafa's Old Boys Club".

I have't seen him played before, so I can comment intelligently. But signing a defender at 33 sure sounds strange. So unless he is technically superb, I can't see how he can dislodge Hyppia and Carra, more like a back up?

Anyone here followed La Liga closely?
