Anelka is not going to be wearing a red jersey

Kevin Keegan has warned it would be "suicidal" to let Nicolas Anelka leave Manchester City without realising his full market value.

He admits in his programme notes for next Tuesday's home game against West Brom that City still owe £5million to Paris St Germain for the French frontman.

To be able to recruit a striker anywhere near Anelka's class, and cover that debt to PSG, City would need to look for a fee around the £10million mark for their star man.

But there look to be few buying clubs around, with Barcelona having ruled out a bid this week due to lack of funds and Liverpool apparently focusing on Real Madrid's Fernando Morientes.

I don't know how much City would want but if it's over £7m forget seeing him at Anfield

I think £5m and Henchoz would be a good deal.

given that man c are gonna be looking for an amount up to £10m for anelka - because they have to to be able to cover the debt they still owe on him - i reckon its looking more and more unlikely. if we can be getting morientes for around half that there's really no contest.

only a few days to go until we have to speculate no more..... for a short while...

Arsene Wenger says that he hates the short transfer window because the players on offer are way too overpriced. Perhaps he forgot that he bought Reyes during the very transfer window at 17 million, who perhaps could have come cheaper in the summer.

I just hope we get our man at the right price.

city are in a terrible financial mess. their two main assets are anelka and wright phillips, i think the money men behind the scenes at main road (sorry, old habits die hard) are hoping to take a massive chunk out of their reported £50m debt with the sale of these two.
i`d be surprised if anelka went for under £7m.
