Team for monaco - Rafa not telling players

From Sinama Pongolle :
When asked by the Frech press, if he was to be playing tonight, his reply was:

''I don't know if I will play at Monaco or not. The coach sometimes only tells us five minutes before the game."

Is this a wise policy for team morale etc, or is this just Pongolle being bitchy, because he is not getting an automatic slot ?

can't see it mate, don't the teams have to put the teamsheet to the officials a specified time before the match?

But yes I would say pongolle is bitching..........but with our current injury crisis, theres probably a few who  a) don't know whether they are playing or not and b) WHAT POSITION they are actuslly playing in.

I actually expect Biscan to start in midfield tonight. But who will start as striker? Benitez has a selection nightmare. In a game like this it we shold have played a big strong striker, a player who could hold up the ball and win us some valuable possession. Maybe we have to use Gerrard? I fear all our long balls and clearances will be lost if we play a midget like Sinama og Garcia up front. And we will be under massive pressure if we can't win the ball and keep it. I fear Hyypia will struggle against Saviola, and I must say a draw would be a fantastic result.

My team:

               Kirkland

Josemi, Hyypia, Carra, Traore

               Hamann
Finnan, Alonso, Biscan, Riise

               Gerrard

Subs: Dudek, Whitbread, Garcia, Warnock, Mellor, Pongolle

No seriously man Gerrard shouldn't and probably wouldn't be striker cause he needs to supply the passes. Kewell on the left and maybe Riise should strike. F/uck it Kewell and Riise would do ??? Throw Warnock on the left or some s/hit.

F/uck man, we lack so much depth, we need good backup players

Kewell up front?   the guy is low form, low confidence, i hardly think a game upfront, missing chances will improve him

we all know that Gerrard is our talisman, the heartbeat, our hero, all over the pitch etc etc, but he's never ever ever ever ever a centre forward.  in european games especially, you need all the experience you can get in terms of what runs to make, when to sit up and not get involved (or you get dragged away from the goal), when TO get involved, and judging the offsides. he'd be forever running back to the midfield tryin to get some of the ball, as he's a player who needs to be involved as much as possible so he can enjoy his game and have an effect. could you really see Gerrard waiting around for half an hour before getting a touch of the ball, which is very possible away in europe? no chance man. Gerrard is great but dont go over the top with him!!!!!

I remember Riise complimenting Rafa's style and saying last year (under GH) players were dropped without any reason or explanation.

He stated this year, RB speaks to each player and tells them his thoughts and explains his tactics.

Pongolle is moaning and IF true can "do one", BUT, it might be the devious press at work.

Redrider... I don't know the legitimacy of the French newspaper....

"If the coach doesn't trust me, it is difficult," he told L'Equipe. "But it is not up to me to judge his choices.

If it is "legit", then it's ill-timed and he can shut up for me.
