What the spanish papers said about him yesterday he must be gutted :( But noway was raffa drinkin champers
MICHAEL OWEN’S Real Madrid dream was left in tatters yesterday after a stinging attack in Spain.

The England striker was branded the worst player on the pitch — with a mark of zero — by top Spanish sports paper Marca after his disastrous performance in Real’s 1-0 defeat by Deportivo la Coruna on Sunday.

It had a full page attack under the headline “Owen, very bad!” It blasted: “Let’s face it Owen is not a galactico. Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez must have celebrated with champagne the day we signed him.

“Owen is not Henry. Owen is not Reyes. Owen is not Totti. Owen is not Drogba. Owen is not Adriano. Owen is not Figo. Owen is not Raul. Owen is not Zidane.”

Owen is not living a Hotel, he has a large Villa in one of the best districts of Madrid.
He may well return to LFC and the UK etc, but it's not because of having to live in a hotel.

i really dont know why so many people are so desperate for him to come back, id rather someone new. Owen is clearly out of sorts and has been for years what makes people think this will change if he moves back ???

I doubt very much that he will be back at Liverpool. We need a differnt sort of striker, when with a more physical approach.

P.S. I should have access to the restricted area.

No sorry, Macmanaman is not worth a 'ham shank' !!
Owen will be 'gagging' to come back, come the summer when our new investment starts to bring more success and a higher profile than is available at Real Madrid. The risk for Owen, is that we may not need him in 9 months time. :)

I doubt he will return. He sat on Liverpools contract offer for an eternity and then walked away just before deadline day. We where not good enough for him then so why the hell should we be so welcoming now. Hes made his bed let him lie in it. I wouldnt open a door hes just closed behind him.

From Sky Sports:
Vultures circling over Owen
by Mark Kendall -  Last Updated 5 Oct 2004

Michael Owen
Real MadridReal Madrid assistant sporting director Emilio Butragueno has come out in defence of Michael Owen and insists the England hit-man will come good in Spain.

The former Liverpool striker has come under-fire after a less than convincing start to life in La Liga.

Owen has found himself behind both Raul and Ronaldo in the Real pecking order and has failed to produce a goal in five appearances to date.

There has even been talk that Owen could be set for an early return to former club Liverpool, although he has dismissed the suggestion out of hand.

Real legend Butragueno, nicknamed The Vulture, has now publicly defended Owen and is confident he will prove himself at El Santiago Bernabeu.

"This is his first season, he has only just arrived and he is still settling in," Butragueno stated.

"Every player needs a period of adaptation and the same thing is happening to Owen.

"We must remember that people also questioned the signings of Zidane and Ronaldo.

They said they weren't performing as was hoped and it was because they needed time to settle in.

"It is the same for Owen I have no doubt that he will bring positive things to the club, above all because he is a good player."

Owen has found more support from the most unlikely of sources, Real's arch rivals Barcelona.

Barca director of sport Txiki Beguiristain has hit out at Fernando Morientes for his barbed comments about Owen, in which he called the England international 'one of the president's signings'.

"(Fernando) Morientes should not say that Owen is a signing of the president because he is a team-mate and should be helping him and not thinking that he is the signing of one person or the other - this is not the fault of Owen," Beguiristain added.

Looks like interest from Barcelona aswell, unless they are just stirring it !!  :blues:

Thats true, thing is , Rafa is definately gonna buy a new striker in january, or two, so Owen may not come back to LFC, but Chelsea yes.
