I read until about page seven and fatigue set in. There seems to be a dividing line between those who would take Manure players and those who wouldn't. Probably genuine scousers wouldn't whereas the rest of us would. I know, I know all generalisations are generally wrong but I've always felt that to give the Liverpool lads their due, they 'feel' the whole rivalry thing a bit more. I've got a couple of mates who are Manure through and through. I've got scouse mates who I wouldn't dream of inviting out on the same night. They just feel it more.
Like I say, I'd take a good player from any club given the chance, but given the history of non-commerce between the clubs it would probably take a better player than Wes Brown to break the mold. Fergie, despite being a ****** is not a fool and wouldn't be letting him go on a free at his age if there was much mileage in him.
A couple of people have mentioned gerrard crossing over to Manure. Let nobody be in any doubt, precidents, history or whatever, Ferguson will move heaven and earth to get him if and when he moves. It is by no means an impossibility with his mate rooney there. Would be sickening though wouldn't it. :(

The reason business between the two doesnt take place is because its risky business. The rivalry makes the move that much more tricky and would demand instant success. Even those Liverpool fans who claim they would be happy to sign a Utdplayer would find it diffuclt to support the player in the way we have with players like Nunez. Regarding the history of the two cities, obviously not having lived in either it is impossible for me to truely feel it but believe me its possible to understand (especially as a history grad). AB mentioned earlier that Shagasaurus didnt know his clubs history and rivalry but it is more than that. Just one example is culturally, look at the contrasting music that eminates from the two cities. Manchester has no Soul!!
PS. Wasnt Beardsley affiliated with Manure when he was on loan in Canada at a team whom we signed him from.

Too true red, he was indeed. Trialled there or released as a kid or somesuch thing. Still not really a transfer. Kinda makes you wonder when a player with as much talent as him gets released or slips through the fingers of any club, whether the people who make such decisions really have any idea at all. I remember first seeing him playing for Newcastle. Didn't exactly take a genius to work out he was a good player.

Paul Ince had a good spell with Liverpool albeit at the end of his career but was accepted in general by most Fans.
Wes Brown is a good player but an unlucky one at that.

So if it doesn't matter where a player comes from then tell me why United have NEVER bought a Liverpool player directly ? ???

The reality is it DOES mattter and your being a  touch naive if you believe it doesn't.

Even before football was being played in the North West, Liverpool and Manchester were competing for trade and business. This naturally followed in sporting circles and we have the rivalry we have today.

And before you tell me I'm being petty because of your realtive success over the last 12 years or so..... I grew up listening to United fans hark on about Best, Law and Charlton in the 27 years between titles from 68-93.

Fact is I woulddn't want Liverpool to buy a Man U player no matter how good or whatever the price. And if your honest you wouldn't like it either.

Actually United have bought a player from us see if you can guess who  ???
