The shirt was not worn by Mellor, but it was issued to him. All of the club's senior players have shirts made for them to wear - even if they don't feature in the squads for certain matches there will still be a limited number of shirts made for them to wear in case they are. The shirt came through one of the first team regulars, so it's 100% genuine: no 'Hydromove' tag on the sleeve and bigger numbers and letters on the back.
