i know...why don't we offer to Keegan the ones who are presently not wanted and are running down their contracts instead of him having to wait a couple of seasons and get them from various souces all over Europe. He can have the next Zidane, or the next Tigana, or the actual Serial Diver...

Keegan comes across as being a t******, but members of this forum should remember the contributions he made to our past successes. He destroyed Newcastle in the '74 cup final, scored a crucial goal against Moenchanladbach in '77 and ran Berti Vogts into the ground in Rome.
There seems to be a tendency starting whereby ex-reds are being shot down. Similarly, Thommo is often ridiculed on this forum but perhaps many members are too young to remember him lifting the european cup in 1981.

Sean, he did not score a goal against Moenchanladbach in the '77 European Cup final but had a blinding game where he gave Berti Vogts a complete tunaround. He earned that penalty, if memory serves me correctly, and was felled in the penalty area. Phil Neal scored but I think Tommy Smith scored first or was it Terry MacDermott? We won 3-1 but Keegan did not manage to cap a fine displey with a goal in his last game for Livrerpool.
Thommo was a great player but his form dipped in 1982 and was replaced as captain by a greater leader, Graeme Souness.
Great Liverpool players, Keegan and Thommo, just that they may have lost some marbles between then and now...

My mistake. I think it was against St. Etienne in the quarter final at Anfield that he scored the opener. Heighway took a short corner to him and Keegan's cross went in over the keepers head. Because of Faircloughs late strike Keegan and Ray Kennedy's goals are often overlooked.
