Did Gerrard Houlier know where he was going to play Harry Kewell or do you think he is just winding us up? By the way I am a new member hi everyone! :p

hello ste, i couldn`t fathom that one out either.
everyone he buys he moves them away from their natural position.
diouff and heskey are not wide men, their forwards and everyone knows that kewells most effective either wide left or up front where he plays for his national side. everyone but the liverpool coaching staff that is! why play him out right ALL pre season when you will move him back when the season starts? (at least i hope he`ll move him back to the left!!!)
houllier over complicates things and see`s problems and ghosts in the machine where they dont exist. half the squad doesn`t even know what their exact position is. is murphy supposed to be a centre midfielder or a wide man? at crewe he played in the hole behind the strikers.
what position does biscan play? centre half or centre mid?
cheyrou? smicer?
there`s a lot of difference at the top level between the attributes a class centre midfielder brings to the table compared to the attributes of a class wide man.
these are specialist roles not meant to be filled by any old "utility" player. no wonder we seem to have no structure or pattern, years ago you would never see cally, heighway or peter thompson in centre mid just like you wouldnt see souness or mcdermott out wide. we have an abundance of mediocre clones in midfield who all seem to perform the same type of role.( stevie gerrard apart).
its a shambles.organised chaos.

It's hardly organised chaos,Mr Houllier has created dis-organised chaos.

i think he is being silly we need a left footed player down the left to do some magic maybe not play him wide on the left but ont the left i mean u look at how well he played for leeds when he was on the left an that is the player we bought not some experiment on the right

i completly agree i think liverpool have the potential to be league winners but houllier as good of a manager as he is doesnt seem to do everythink the way that seems clear i believe liverpool woulkdnt handle well under a manager like wenger but maybe a souness or to get phil thompson helping houllier a bit more ??? possibly!

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum but I hv been a fan for as long as I can remember. I think Liverpool will not challenge for the championship as long as Houllier is the manager. He is tactically inept and always plays the players out of their natural position. I am being cruel but his championship win with Lens (am I right?) in the past was a real fluke. Let's all rally for a new manager, even David Moyes or Harry Redknapp is miles ahead of him in terms of getting the best out of the players. I am as passionate as all of you about Liverpool and I have been suffering every time I watch Liverpool's matches, especially at home! No imagination, so negative and severely lacking in penetrative ability. It's always punt and hope Owen can outrace the opposing defenders and score.

before Kewell joins us, we are lacking of left winger. Berger/Smicer/cheyrou/Heskey are not good enough in left and GH has made a good decision to get Kewell....but the funny thing is we get Kewell....GH makes him play in the right or centre midfield...? ???

Let Kewell plays at the left...Gerrald/Hamann/Murphy as the centre midfield....Diouf to play at right...
