Phillipe shall we bring him home?

Liverpool has a long history of selling players who do not so so well after leaving the club and end up coming home to us (Rushie being a notable example).

Coutinho is available for a cut price fee. I am sure he would want to come back.

He has his best years ahead of him... Surely it's worth a punt? He's better than Jota and would fit really well with Bobby.

It was written into the sale contract that if we take him back then the transfer price is substantially reduced so on that alone we shouldn't.

Never go back to a ex-girlfriend, it's never as good as you remember it to be first time round.....

I agree, never go back. As creative as he was, he was more a liability tracking back and closing down. I think we have evolved since we sold  him, would be a luxury sub at best.

Great player who never fitted in at Barca. Their fans turned on him too, which is sad to see.

Would I take him back? Yes, but I'm not convinced he would fit into our system.

Coutinho has been nothing better than poor to average everywhere he has played except Liverpool. We took an £8.5m punt on him and benefited from his best years and a massive profit. He was loved at Liverpool and adored by the fans which was the total opposite to what he enjoyed at Barca and Bayern. Personally I think he is damaged goods and we could do a lot better elsewhere for £40m.

There is a reason Bayern didn't want to keep him and Barcelona want shot of him. For the top teams, which we have become since Phil left, his game isn't complete enough and he is too inconsistent. Every season he goes through a crisis of confidence and has a terrible slump for a few months. He'll struggle to get a move to another top CL club.

Our transfer policy is hit and miss because we are always looking for cheap bargains. Coutinho was actually one who ended up turning into a top player and while it hasnt worked out at other clubs it did here. Who wouldnt want to see us bag a player that can score 15 in a season plus god knows how many assists. His numbers would be better than our entire midfield combined. Klopp obviously got the best out of him and could again imo.

Again it comes down to ambition and what ours is next season. If it's to topple city again then its players like Coutinho that we need. Players who can make a difference not maybe they will , might do next year or for the future.

Personally I would like to see coutinho here instead of someone who Klopp would prefer to play Milner ahead of.

We should thank Rafa who was boss of Inter when we bought him, he would've given Anfield the call for sure. :buttrock

Rafa was manager of Inter in 2010 , we bought Coutinho in 2013 , when Rafa was manager of Inter Coutinho was on loan at Vasco

His age would be an issue for me, he’s 29 in June and we already have a lot of players around that 30 mark, saying that we did have a creativity problem last season (what was it 2 goals in 8 home games?) and I reckon our Brazilian contingent (Ally, Bobby, Fab) would be absolutely made up to have him back. Having the likes of him and Thiago in the same team would be nice to see as well.
There’s pro’s and con’s either way. Must admit it would pi$$ me off if he went to somewhere like Arsenal or Spurs and started ripping up tree’s.

He was a fantastic player for us but I only see him playing against the deep block teams as he does not work hard enough on the press, and we already have Thiago. I think he would be a luxury sub and for that price we could probably spend the money strengthening other areas. I do feel sorry for how he fell from grace but football is a tough business. I do remember that he refused to play for us as he wanted to be sold so….

We sold Owen in similar circumstances and he was a local boy, we never took him back. He should be ***** at Suarez and his own wife that made him believe he was bigger than us.

More importantly than all that Brendog was the manager at Liverpool when we bought him !! Possibly the best bit of business a Liverpool manager has ever been involved in.

People seem to forget that Coutinho and his agents behaviour left quite a lot to be desired. The one thing they did do, in the same way as Suarez probably with a contractual gun held to their heads was to sign lengthy contracts which ensured that we got the best possible price for them. Slightly surprised we didn’t do the same with Gini. Perhaps because Gini was such a decent guy we had Avery different attitude.
