I’d be lying if I said I was a huge fan of his Mourinho-esque counterpunching style of football but Ged dragged this club into the modern era, other managers tried to dip their toe into the water in terms of changing players eating & drinking habits, general discipline etc but under Ged it became non-negotiable. He overhauled our training facilities too.
On the pitch he won 6 trophies (F.A Cup, 2 League Cups, UEFA Cup, European Super Cup and Charity Shield) and led us to a second place finish.
Thanks for all you did for us Ged, you will never be forgotten, RIP.

Shocking  :(

We had some good times with Gérard, with the 2001 cup treble being a great season.

He also transformed the club behind the scenes by changing the culture of the first team (and getting rid of players like Ruddock).

RIP

I've class memories of his time here, getting over to matches and watching all those finals; MO scoring 2 against the run of play, the ridiculous UEFA final and we even managed a run at the end to finish 4th. I've still got my FA Cup top and my name fivecups. Not many who love Liverpool more than Houllier. He was ringing Phil Thompson from his hospital bed as he recovered from an aortic dissection!

As a kid growing up during his tenure, i've got so many amazing memories of his time here - the FA & UEFA cup finals particularly. He had his flaws but he also had great passion for the club and set strong foundations for the future.  R.I.P

Some truly heartfelt messages from former players today, none more so than Danny Murphy when he had just heard the news this morning. All through the day I've been re-reading the messages and tweets. They show just how much the 'man', not just the manager, they respected.
I wasn't always a fan I have to say. At times I thought he was a bit too passive, but what do I know.
A genuine Liverpool fan himself, we were very fortunate to have him.
RIP

Prior to Ged I had only experienced the coca cola cup victory under Roy.

Ged gave us that epic treble season, really enjoyed that period. I liked him as our manager and respected how he shaped us. Buying Hyppia solidified our backline and how he changed us from Playboys to grafters.

Always liked Ged and thank him for what he did.

Condolences to his family.
