So we have two senior CBs out for the whole season and have only one, very injury prone CB left. Definitely wouldn't want to be in Klopp's shoes right now.

On the plus side, Rhys Williams and Phillips showed that they are capable of stepping up if needed, so hopefully they'll stay in good form, at least until January.

Bad news was not replacing Lovren, good news was selling Lovren as he would be playing very game.

Despite the situation, I don't regret selling Lovren at all to be honest. I have more faith in the kids than him.

Played with his heart Dejan, can't deny that, but not with his brain unfortunately.

With Matip potentially out for a while we are getting screwed at CB. We need to buy a CB this window.

Only 15 games played, VVD/Gomez out long term. Matip in and out and our best DM playing CB. We desperately need to sign a CB this window.

It is a critical moment in the season, it will be interesting to see what the owners come up with

I think if Klopp and the recruitment team have found a deal worth doing they will have it lined up already. So if we don't hear anything before the end of this week my guess is we won't do anything.

Great respect for all those that have come in and done a job in the centre of our defence.

Having said that, imo we desperately need a seasoned no nonsense central defender to shore up our defence.

Christ only knows what will happen if Fabinho is the next to get injured !

As soon as we lost Virgil and Joe Gomez the club should've been looking to fill in with a more than decent alternative for those players.

We need to sign someone for the long term.

Matip has been a quality (free) signing, but his injury record is getting worse and I don't think we can rely on him to start every game.

Williams and Phillips are young, but neither of them show any signs of being good enough for a team with title-winning aspirations.

We need to bring in a young guy (22/23) who will step up when/if VVD is out.

I wouldn't be surprised if Klopp has one or two already lined up, we're just not hearing anything. And perhaps that's the way it ought to be.
I agree that glass legs Matip is unreliable and we need proper cover at CB. Phillips is a grafter but passes the ball behind the receiver and is too slow. Williams too slow as well.

The lad from Ajax hopefully.

The Sven Botman link looks it might have some credibility. No other credible links. So maybe Botman or someone out of the blue.

Looks like James Pearce has squashed any rumours of Botman. We definitely need someone in.. The young lads have done a good job, but if Fabinho gets injured then we are royally screwed.
