LFC have grown in commercial management stature so much in the past 5 years that I'm sure the new deal will blow the socks of both the old deal and anything out there today. Nike are a progressive company and realise there's a change in the old guard and LFC are the horse to back for the coming 5-10 years. ManU are finished and Spurs have failed to maintain any progress so they have no choice but to bet the house on LFC.

Not exactly the record breaking deal we were expecting.

I thought it was 75 per year and NB was taking us to court as there was “a right to match any a bid” in their contract with us and we want Nike. We are European Champions so how could it be less?

Matching terms = £30M per year + 20% royalty

Problem is NB does not have the distribution channels, supply chains and the cloud to attract collaborative partners that would expand the reach of the club's branding like what Nike could, hence that's where the value of the "20%" will eventually differ, according to the club

The brand LFC is worth a lot of money and sales to whoever gets the shirt deal so get coughing up you tight *****. If NB want it then lets see your bid, Nike the same - get your wonga on the table big boy! I'd take UMBRO again if it the bid was the highest.

Nike will make a lot more money for every party involved. Along with adidas they’re masters of this business.

All the biggest clubs have Nike, Adidas or Puma for a reason, they have the biggest distribution networks, supply chains and stars for cross promotion. NB have mostly done a good job with kit design over the years but they don't have the capacity for a club of our size.

Nike is also my favourite sports brand so im looking forward to seeing what there going to make for us!

So damn amateurish by the club to include a matching offer clause in the contract with New Balance.
Especially now that they've signed a low deal with Nike including royalties and other clauses.
Problem is New Balance just matches the offer of 30 million and says they've matched the offer by Nike.
You can't quantify royalties and other clauses as you don't know their worth.

As a brand, I prefer adidas. But I feel that their designs are lacking behind nike recently especially in footwear.

the anti establishment in me feels that going with nike or adidas will be quite boring, nike more so. They should try to see if under armour is interested. I haven't seen any football teams being sponsored by UA though  :D. But even Federer, who has always been like a flagship promoter for nike, switched to uniqlo after 20 years with nike! So...

It's all about distribution, distribution, distribution. The more shirts they sell globally the more we earn at 20%. Nothing else is important.

I must say that it has been hard to find Liverpool shirts around the world and the only viable option has been online, Nike and Adidas however can be bought anywhere, even airports. The quicker we change to a better distributed brand the more we will sell. It would be nice to get an Under Armor kit as they seem to be the brand that is pushing most in terms of design, fit and material.

UA is decades behind Nike and Adidas in terms of dedicated outlets, rented space, general distribution, sponsership and general brand preference. Nike is 20% ahead of Adidas, a million % above UA and 3 generations above NB. It's a no brainer guys, Nike want to throw money at us as the next generation club brand.

Nike are in a league of their own. Biggest sportswear brand in the world. Adidas are a distant second and NB probably don't make the top 5. Their retail, distribution and marketing will mean we sell far more around the world than we do. Go the club shop at Anfield now and you can't even get the goalie kit. People who placed orders online  in the summer are getting them now!

Apparently, New Balance have lost the lawsuit. Nike will be our new sponsor.
