Brilliant pre match talk from Jurgen.

A few digs at Man Utd's "style" when playing us and a full on blast at the suits of Fifa and Uefa who plan the tournaments.

What is everyone's opinion on Klopp's decision to boycott the replay match against Shrewsbury?

I personally strongly disagree, makes me kind of angry even that he's actually said that.

I agree with you, at the end of the day they get paid a lot of money and that comes from the fans, TV etc. Unfortunately we didn't get the job done in the first game so he cant blame the FA for that, he doesn't need to play the kids, he can play Matip, Lovren. Kieta, Origi, Minamino, Shaq and Milner if he's fit and he should be on the touchline.

Exactly. The FA said that it was the best that they can do and I agree with them. Not only we didn't even have winter breaks until this season, this was actually the most match-packed period, so they've done a pretty good job to somehow throw in a winter break, with one small exception that might get fixed in the future. All the clubs must have been notified at the start of the season that they'll get a winter break UNLESS they have to play an FA cup replay, so there are no excuses for this.

And I don't even want to get started on the money these players and managers make, to have the nerve to even ask for a winter break, never mind boycott games.

Fixture congestion has been regarded as a problem for quite some time now. Do we know for a fact that the FA informed clubs that replays would have to be played during the winter break? If this was the case then I agree but only to a certain extent. I don’t think anybody would deny that our program during December and January has been intense to say the least. Injuries to players are becoming an issue partly due to the number of games that they are playing and the speed of the game. We have lost like most other clubs key players due to injury during the season. Alison, Matip, Milner, Lovren, Fabinho, Keita and now Mané have all suffered muscle related problems. Surely one way of reducing the congestion would have been to scrap replays for the FA Cup. Personally I have never been a fan of them anyway as you feel somewhat deprived when you have to walk away from the ground when the match has finished in a draw. Would much prefer extra time and penalties without replays.

This is a special year so I’m ok with Klopp prioritizing the PL and CL. For years managers have been complaining about how the PL will always be at a disadvantage in the later rounds of the CL because they don't get a winter break like the other leagues, obviously that was not the case last year as English teams did well but that was unusual, in the past however those complaints were valid. I know the players get paid so much but still there is only so much physically the body can take and in the pressure cooker of a title race the mind needs a break too. If we go on to lift the title, no one will care if we did not win the FA cup and got knocked out by Shrewsbury if that actually happens. Also it is a great opportunity for the kids to play to a full crowd at Anfield.

Do you think it'll be a sell out crowd for this replay when everyone now knows the first team and Klopp will be nowhere near? I reckon you'll still be able to buy tickets on the night half hour before kick off and the ground will maybe have 20k in it

Pretty sure the ground will be close to being full. I'd still expect 50k to turn up. Tickets have been heavily discounted.

Did you know that back in the 60’s another manager missed a cup game and let the assistant manager do the stuff whilst he went away and watched another game - Bill Shankly

If the U23 are playing then it is only fitting that they are managed on the day by the U23 manager... seems common sense to me. Personally I would have preferred a few older heads returning from injury to have played but I'm sure our lads are more than capable of getting the job done.
