Pig Catcher - it was on the opposite page to that article about outgoings, the piece said that the club didn't expect to be doing much business this summer in terms of incoming signings because Jurgen is happy with what he's got.
Maybe as Frank says it's a bluff by the club, let's hope so.

Does anybody have a reasonable idea (or educated guess) as to how much money Jurgen might have available to spend this summer ?

Personally I have no idea, supposing it's set around £150 million (to low ?) Who would you try to sign ?

Can't say how much exactly we have, but I know for sure that we have enough for one decent player plus one or two back-up players, don't need more than that at the moment.

I think the club earned plenty last season, so we should have at least £100m in the transfer kitty, not including possible player sales.

Mate ! I thought I was low balling it by suggesting Jurgen may have £150 million made available to spend.

Jurgen has shown that he doesn't throw money around needlessly BUT if he was given just £100 million to push the squad to another level it wouldn't surprise me if he questioned the clubs ambition.

Klopp doesn’t get give a “budget” as such - as with previous season he has players he wants and the club go and try and get them , negotiate a price and Klopp with his team along with Edwards decide if that price is worth it. He gives the scouts the areas he needs players and they find him players but he spends ages with his team and Edwards. The days of set budget limits are not really valid now. I suspect if Klopp wanted Mbappe and PSG were willing to sell for £200mil then the club would spend it now.

I agree with LIP, the club have shown that they go after the players Klopp wants, breaking the transfer record for a defender and keeper are prime examples

Speaking of Mbappe, I like the rumors linking him to us, and to be honest I don't think it's beyond us to spend £200m on a single player. The problem however, would be his wage. We have this complex and a bit strict wage structure I think, and we don't really like to give anyone too big of a wage.

Considering Salah is our highest payed player at £200k per week, I can't see us going for someone like Mbappe, who would ask for at least double that.

Breaking the transfer record for a goalie and defender is a lot cheaper than breaking the transfer record for an attacker or midfielder (we basically bought them both for what we got for one midfielder). The owners were shrewd and luckily we had great attackers (all three would easily command over 100 million each).

he needs to seriously step up to command that type of price tag and wage. I've seen him play out of this world on occasion and not turn up on another. £200m? feck that off.

Well two years ago he went for £166mil and he has just got better - if Neymar can go for £200mil then Mbappe can who is a better player

I would be delighted if the club spent that money on him

If anybody here believes Klopp would spend 200M on Mbappe, I suggest you get your head examined.

Why ? He spent £75 mil on a CB and £70 mil on a gk

If the money was there and club happy to spend it then the club would sanction it

Breaking the transfer record for a goalie and defender is a lot cheaper than breaking the transfer record for an attacker or midfielder (we basically bought them both for what we got for one midfielder). We just got luckier as where we needed strengthening (defense and goalie) players are generally cheaper. We needed to break transfer records for a defender and goalie, we don’t NEED to for attacking players as what we have are already world class.

Remember what people said about us a couple of years ago, we had a Ferrari attack, a Volvo midfield, a Fiat defense and a Yugo (the old ones) goalie. Buying a Lambo when we already have a Ferrari seems unlikely.

I reckon we could land Mbappe for 150m and I think the club could afford it too.
