Fortunately Konate is proving to be a great CB so the two of them should be cover the CB positions for the next 3-4 seasons at least.

If you're talking about yesterday's loss I don't think it counts, only the ones in the EPL count.

Hamstring injury and the club has sent him to see a specialist...guess that means at least 6 weeks out. If not more...

We've got some back luck with injuries, just hope Matip and Konate can step up and solidfy the back. Tbf with poor protection in the middle it really doesn't matter who we've got at the back these days.

I just read we lost our club doctor on the eve of the start of the season to ManUre of all teams, seems we have had a lot of injuries this season and I wonder if that is the reason.

Looking like he did in his last year at Southampton when he was sulking because he wanted a move. I think by giving Salah 400k we have now opened a can of worms especially with VVD who probably believes he should be the top earner. I never thought I’d ever say it but we should be looking to sell him (and Salah) and cut our loses. That great chemistry we had is gone and we need to build a new team. Selling those two will bring in a lot and free up wages, we need hungry young players and I’ll take a step back to take multiple steps forward.

I'd cash in on Virgil and Salah too if we get the right money. I think £50m for Salah and £40m for Virgil would be perfect. You kinda know FSG would only put £30m on top of what we get for those 2 into next years transfer kitty... probably another reason why Klopp holds onto his players too long.

He still has a good season or two in him imo but he is on the wrong side of 30, had a serious injury and starting to pick up niggles so in that scenario he isn't maybe the complete one man wall that he was from a couple of seasons ago. Obviously isn't helped by the midfield in front of him but even so, do wonder if that one on one ability he had can maybe now got at. Issue with this league is that it so physically intense, that even a slight drop off in a players physical capabilities can be shown up.

Doubt he is the type to be stroppy about what Salah is earning. He was happy enough to sign his own deal which is lucrative enough.

Maybe there is a bit of resentment in the squad and Damjan brought it up last week as well and It could very well be happening.
Trent on 180k while Robbo is on 50k.

Virgil for me, although far from what he was before his injury, is still by far our best defender and still probably one of the best defenders in the world. He used to be one of the best players overall, on par with Messi and Ronaldo just obviously different position. Right now he's "just" among the top defenders.

This season he hasn't been his best but he can't do it on his own, protection from our midfield is nonexistent, his partners are being constantly changed and have dropped in form as well. Everyone apart from Ali has been below par this season, but Virgil is probably the last player that needs replacing IMO.

Yeah, I definitely feel like we did a bad move giving Salah so much money. It's a huge difference from everyone else and it might be one of the main reasons why we're underperforming, some players are likely unhappy about the whole thing. Virgil included IMO.

I don’t think he is as fast as he was before the injury. I remember that year he came when he was never beaten one on one for years but now he is beaten on one v ones a lot more regularly. I still think he is a rolls Royce defender but if is not 100% into it then his performance won’t show  it, and I think that is the case as he is not the same player. I just feel we need to step back to move forward and selling him and Salah would go along way in buying some up and coming superstars with a hunger and an intensity to succeed, as that is what we are missing.

Had we built from a position of strength then it wouldn’t be the case, we didn’t though and moving forward we will have to take big steps. Remember we didn’t want to sell Coutinho but as it happened it was great for the team. That was another case of taking a step backwards to move forwards.
