I’d like to think that everyone would step up their game in order to cover for his absence. People panicked when gerrard, Coutinhio and Suarez picked up long term injuries and the team always compensated. If not I guess we’ll have to revert to type and just outscore the oppo...heavy metal geggenpress style :buttrock

Watching Virgil’s authority, control and absolute desire yesterday against Brighton was something we have been missing desperately since perhaps Gerrard’s best days. His consistency and command is exceptional and I should think nobody, except the dopiest of bitters, would question the price we paid for him. It is little wonder that we are top of the table for opposition shots on goal at an average of just 2.6 per game after 22 matches. If we do manage to win the title he will be a key reason. We have bought some brilliant players over the last few years and this guy for me tops the list and that’s including Mo and that says everything.

If he doesn't win player of the season there's something seriously wrong. That was his 5th partner this season (correct me if I'm wrong) and another clean sheet. The guy is mustard.

If we win the league he will surely win player of the season. I'd go even further and say that if we reach the semis of the CL he'll definitely be in the top 3 players to be considered to win balon d'or. And he's a CB! What a player this guy is.

I've read another stat today that not a single player has dribbled passed him this season  :bowdown

I've been telling friends and relatives the same thing for months now and they refuse to believe it. I know this is a fact because I've seen all Liverpool games this season and not once I've seen him get beaten in a duel, but I couldn't prove it. Do you have a link or something that shows the stats?

Just shows you can’t always believe statistics. His impact has been immense.

He's a doubt for the Leicester game. He hasn't trained in a single session since last game, apparently because of an illness. We might have to relive the nightmare of Lovren and Matip in defence again  :glare:

It will be practice for Munich since he will also be unavailable due to suspension
