You would expect Firmino to push on again next season with a couple of years behind him at Anfield and the arrival of Salah alongside him.

We know that not many teams will prevent us scoring but we have historically been ordinary at the back and in defensive midfield in recent years and it must be addressed this summer.

Failure to land a high class DMF, CB and LB and perhaps another CF will leave me feeling short changed this summer after all that work to get in Champs League.

Its about time we had a real go at it, not waiting for another year to get the price right or for people to come through, but seriously upgrading the first team and having a right pop at that League.

For once we seem to be doing the right thing (i.e prioritising quality over quantity) so we may not get round to plugging all the gaps in our squad mate. Top players are expensive and we are not Man City.
I'd much rather see us do this though than the scattergun approach that we saw under Brendan.

Why have we needed a solid left back for about 5 years.....

Mignolet had a good last MONTH and we've needed a decent keeper for about 4 years.

Neither have been addressed.

Coutinho is being linked with PSG more and more each day, (hopefully b0llucks) but we seem reluctant to meet asking prices (Keita? Van Dijk?).... Transfers are being dragged out and out even when the player admits he wants to come to us.

the Keita saga rings parallel with the Van Dijk one.....

We show "intent" but never put money where our mouths are, personally, I can't see us spending more than £35 million on anyone.

Only today we've been linked with a £14million "Van Dijk replacement"

Our net spend since 2015 has been £5 million.... these owners wont dip their hands in their pockets for no one..... Forget Keita without someone being sold first.

So at the present in the last 2 seasons we have a combined net spend of £30million.. compare that to City's  £312m net spend.

Yet fans of rival clubs seem to think it's a level playing field when they finish above us. I think Klopp did extraordinary to finish in the top 4 last year.

@Redshade

Can you add Milner please, Klopp says he is our new midfield player. Also add Ryan Kent as Klopp reckons he is completely different from last year.

Some fairly questionable quotes coming after yesterday's match in Dublin, attempting to deflect attention from the lack of signings

I actually wouldn't mind if Sakho was one of our 'new' signings. Better than starting the season with Klavan as 3rd choice CB

We're a week away from our first match of the season and have only one major signing to our name. Should we panic? :oh:

The pattern continues...Not making the right decision at the right time...BR cost us the title race because he didn't buy...Klopp lost Europe because he didn't buy..And now again...
Is it FSG? Is it a stinking scouting system? Is it the managers? Why can't we act on the obvious and buy where it's needed ,why don't we learn from past mistakes?

If this post helps and today we hear of 2 new signings then i played my part.
