Top 4 would be a step forward for us but if pans out like our last effort and the summer transfer that preceded it then it doesn't fill me with excitement.

Theres so much hype around the Champs League positions but it only means something if your club really buys into it and sees it as a tool to catapult you forward, but that has never really happened to us. The odd time we get in theres no real push or change of plan, we just keep ticking over, sensible steps as if we hadnt qualifed at all.

What Im saying is if Klopp does get us in there we really must use it as a mechanism to change the face of our club, anything but all the works a waste, for what might be half a dozen games.

For what its worth I think Chelsea and City, probably Arsenal and United, the latter two we can challenge with along with Spurs but I fear the big squads will come through, we are literally one or two knocks away from Klopps machine grinding to a halt.

Just having a look at the transfers when we qualified for Champs league, last time in 14/15.

Spent 128 mill. Highest paid fees Lallana 26mil, Lovren 21mil
17m Ballotelli 21mil Markovic Moreno 15m
Others- Origi 10mil Can 10m lambert 4mil

Remember total sale of players 84 mill.

Net spend around -40 mill.

Not really that exciting is it going into a season full of important games.

Parchpea - that's what I said a few weeks back, we're focused on top 4 like it's the be all and end all of everything at this club but why? so we can clutter up fixtures with our under strength squad and limp out in the opening group stages? No thanks - ya can keep it. I'd rather have less games and a proper title push or champs.league footie and a recruitment drive over summer, however, probably never really going be the 2nd one is it.

Chelsea were Chelsea, Spurs showed a positive reaction to being dumped out Europa and were were us. Unlucky to play against a decent team that was under performing, just sacked their manager with a point to prove. Having said that an awful display by us, worst of the season. What seemed like an easy run in when the fixtures came out is looking like our worst nightmare now, a final run against our biggest weakness and that is bottom of the table teams.

Big teams out the way now. Had we done better against the lower oppo it goes to show where we could have been this season.
Those matches against Sunderland, Swansea, Bournemouth, West ham were costly.
9 more points on the table and we could've been in a title run in and possible favourites at this stage.

Oh well anyhow if we manage top 4 it will be progress.

Bournmouth H
Stoke A
West brom A
C palace H
Watford A
Southampton H
West ham A
Middlesbrough H

On papper all winnable.
However difficult run considering how we play against those sides.

For me the tricky ones are West brom, West ham and Southampton.

Beating Stoke was big, if we can now beat West Brom it will be ours for the taking.

Arsenal getting beat 3-0 by Palace certainly helps our cause.

What a disaster for Arsenal. 3-0 to Palace, that's a terrible result.

Top 4 is ours to lose TBH. Manure have to play Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal and Spurs. They will be lucky to get 6 points from those.

Yeah the mancs have the thoughest run in. Followed by Arsenal. Then it's us and man city which is abiut the same. I feel that City will get 3rd. We have to fight for 4th.

Really think top 4 is done now. Arsenal look a mess, mancs got tough games and Europa. For me, now it's about whether we finish 2nd, 3rd or 4th. Think 2nd is realistically a tall order unless spurs have a few dodgy results but both them and city have a game in hand on us. Need to secure 3rd so we don't have to worry about qualifying in the summer

I'm not even confident about us getting 3rd man. Spurs churns out wins against lesser teams regularly. Man City is too strong to slip up given the relatively easy fixture...
