One of the very simple reasons why we were prepared to pay £7 million a year for Klopp  was due to his ability to purchase players for reasonable sums and develop them. You don't have to look any further than his record at Borussia Dortmund  to understand exactly what he is capable off. Liverpool football club like many other teams have found life extremely difficult in the transfer market over the last decade for a variety of reasons. Agents  and players demands have increased enormously.   Evidence would suggest that top players are only prepared to go to top clubs with massive financial backing and the almost certain guarantee of champions league football.  Geography is also becoming an increasingly important factor. If I have got this wrong then I would like to see some examples of any top player that was sold for more than £35m that doesn't fit into this mould.

Joe Allen added to the list of departures.

Looks like smith has sealed his deal. All the best.

As usual the net spend isn't going to be not that high.

Once Benteke fooks off we're in profit. Surely we're going to bring in another couple of players

BBC Radio 5 has quoted Klopp as saying he is not looking to make any imminent signings; however, this might change over the first 3 games of the season.

Have to say that I have been a bit underwhelmed by business so far and doubt it will be enough to win the league, and a struggle for the top 4, yet again.

We have tried to buy goals in midfield but there is still a heavy reliance on Sturridge and young Origi, who himself mirrors many that have been brought in, as yet unproven with a massive amount to prove at this level.

Klopp is not the only world class manager in this league and whilst we all want to believe he can out manage big money my head says he will fall short, square one again next summer.

We buy really well but it has limitations, its always had them under FSG, very good owners in their own right but unable, perhaps unwilling, to add pure world class stars to this team, the kind of players that are the difference, winners and an inspiration to players and fans alike.

Admittedly I would have liked to have seen a top CM come in but even so I do think we have the makings of a decent side.
I think we'll see a lot of power and pace next season with the likes of Origi, Mane, Wijnaldum and Can leading the way.

I think there are still a few twists and turns yet. I'm pretty sure one or two more will come in.

So far I have no problem with the players who have gone. Allen, Lucas, Skittles....none of them were good enough to play week in, week out. I'd also like to see Wisdom, Mario and Benteke go too, but time will tell.

No one wants Mario (no, really, not a single club) and it looks like we're holding out for £32m for Benteke.

If we are to get rid of Balotelli we will have to give him away for free just to get him off the books

He's only got 12 months left on his deal. I imagine we'll loan him out and that'll be the end of it.

If not, I can see us mutually terminating the contract and paying him off. He's finished as a top flight footballer.
