He works incredibly hard on the pitch, reads the game really well, gives 100% and I do not think this guy has come here to be anybody's backup, he wants a starting place and I can see him getting one

With my crystal ball out in front of me I am predicting this guy will become a cult hero at the club, shame he is so new to us as he shows true leadership, something we have been seriously lacking since Stevie left

I think the fact he is 30 and making this move to us he knows and understands that this is his big chance at a huge club and he has every intent of taking it

I know he was brought in as cover, but don't think he is of the required standard. Not totally awful but bang average imo. Think he is poor in the air and just doesn't dominate enough for me. It's a shame Sakho has burnt his bridges with Klopp because he is comfortably a few levels above Klavan in terms of ability

Like you wrote he was signed as 4th option...Lovern was more deadlier today with his unwarranted corner kick...

I still cant get my head around why Klavan was facing his own goal when the corner is taken ,just awful defending

Another average defender who is a liability. I think Klopp just gives this guy game time to keep everyone happy in the squad. Totally useless.

Completely respectable 4th choice CB. The problem is with the players that are ahead him.

He's in very good form at the moment. £5mil doesn't get you much in today's market so Klopp has done very well to get a decent backup CB for that much.

I'd still have him in ahead of Lovren. I can remember reading some stat when he joined that him and Matip had the most amount of successful interceptions and tackles in the league that year. Since he has had a run of games he has grown in confidence and shown he can be a decent option when needed.

He's far less of a calamity than Lovren, that's for sure. Keep him I say...

Some of our defenders are surplus to requirements now it seems... Who is on the way out I wonder?
