So if VVD is out who do we rely on then? Lala and dipsy?
We need a CB to go straight into the main Xi to partner VVD.

Think I read during the week that VVD was singing the praises of some 18 year old Dutch defender, can't remember the name though. Reckons he's good enough to go into the squad at least. Very young but perhaps worth a punt. Or there's always promoting from within - young Connor Masterson for example. A shameless plug for a young lad from just down the road from me in Dublin I admit, but seems to be getting good reviews

Personally i would love it if we could get the two dutch CBs De Vrij and De ligt.
De Vrij could start with VVD and De ligt we can use him on rotation. His only 18 and a regular with Ajax already.
I would keep Matip but seriously think about selling Lovren and Klavan.
Van Dijk/ De Vrij / Matip / De ligt / Gomez as our CBs for next season.

Signing de Vrij on a free transfer would be ideal. Lovren should then be sold. Keep Matip, Klavan and Gomez as back-ups.

Nine games in, and we've only conceded 3 league goals
Last season (after a similar amount of games) that figure was closer to 15

We always looked abit nervous in defence, but now we have calm players like VVD and Alisson and it helps players have trust and it's built the confidence within the team. They are actually now working as a unit. I haven't seen the defence look this good since Hyppia/Henchoz days.

I agree our defense hasn't look this solid since Houlliers best days. Titles are always won by a great defense.
