I thought Benteke's hold up play was good, and it was nice to actually see a striker compete for a header. He also stayed central, which is something Mario doesnt do.

His passing was off, but that is rust, hopefully he gets a goal in front of the KOP this weekend to kick start his career.

If Rodgers came out and criticised his performance fans wouldn't be happy with that either.

At the moment it feels like Rodgers could win the treble and manage to re-sign Suarez on a free and some fans would still criticise him.

Maybe you should just accept that some fans actually cant abide the man and the likelihood is that will never change ,rather than question their support  ???

Question their support of what? The team or the manager?

Surely not being able to 'abide' Rodgers is consistent with not supporting him?

I haven't questioned any one's support of the team.

As for 'accepting' that some posters cannot abide Rodgers, I have. I'm still allowed to voice my own opinion though friend.

I hope this 'reads as written'.

The power of the internet mate. I have no problem with people not liking BR, what I do object to is them spewing their view repeatedly in every thread at which point it becomes a mantra and extremely boring. Stalin used to do the same.

If you're stating that supporting the team equates to supporting the current manager ,and one cant exist without the other ,then no !  Lets just agree to disagree with regards to the current incumbent ,and accept that some fans have very different views on the loathsome snide disingenuous little cretin.

His presence alone upfront is making defences panic creating room for the supporting players. I was against the target man with the current system, but I'm really liking it at the moment.. Chelsea have played the same way using Drogba and now Costa as battering Rams.

I watched the Arsenal game again, and counted that Benteke won 16 headers. The problem is we had no one running on to them.

I think the first sub needed to be Ings/Origi instead of Ibe just to give a new dynamic to the game. It's no doubt he is our outlet, but there was really no one running onto his headers. There was no on playing close enough to him.

Hopefully when Sturridge returns and these 2 get time we play in a diamond with Firmino behind and we have a true genuine link for this guy.

Noticed that during the game and it drove me nuts, no point in the fella winning all those balls if none of our other players are unable to latch onto them  :kungfu:

Hopefully it's something that will be quickly addressed and evolve as Benteke beds into the team.

Looked a lot like balotelli today. And that's the problem. We buy a striker and don't play to his strengths.

For 3 f**king seasons we don't put in crosses into the box. Now we buy Benteke and suddenly we ask our players to cross the ball.  And can you blame them when they cross the ball like a bunch of schoolboys ?

And when Benteke wins the ball in the air...who is there at the end of it ? no-one. Very similar whenever balotelli dropped deep to lay-off the ball to no-one (as none of our players are running through at goal).

Fella, you're losing the plot if you're comparing Beteke with Mario. The latter never moved enough or got into goal scoring positions. That's why he was dropped. He was lazy.

Benteke tracks back, gets into the box and works for the team. Ok, he's not getting crosses, but he's no Andy Carroll and can score with his feet as well as his head.

I am just iterating the point that we have to setup the team to play to our striker's strength.  Benteke looked as powerless as Balo today. He looked as everybit as heavy footed as Balo did last season.
