You only ever come onto this forum to bump player threads and criticise those players. Hardly ever say anything positive about our club.

To be fair it was a clean sheet so maybe we should be criticizing those that failed to score.

With Trent' s progress, Clyne back from injury, and VVD, Lovren, Matip and Klavan being fancied ahead of him at CB last season, I wonder what lies ahead for Gomez this season. It would probably require a number of injuries for him to get any time on the pitch. After last season his stock is probably high enough to get first team football out on loan in the PL so that might be an option.

I like him. He's very direct going forward and can play at full back or CB so all good. I think Klavan should be the one to depart, due to his age.
I want to see more of him.

Got to bring this up again...Why are we sticking to this guy? I mean he has yet to show that he has any chance/potential to be a top defender in the EPL let alone LFC..
His mechanics are average, his decision making is average ,he is pretty physical and fast but not top of the class..so why?

Looking at the CB department we have a lot of average/risky players...Gomez and Ragnar avarage ,Dejan is a X factor ,Matip is made of matches leaving only VVD as a legitimate power house defender...

Not really seen anything yet to suggest he’s a good quality PL standard CB. Does seem to give the ball away quite a bit and lose the flight of the ball when it’s played in the air. Of course he could make quick progress if played in his preferred position but right now I’d be more comfortable with Klavan who is a very respectable 4th choice CB.

Thats a silly thing to say. I give credit where its due and Gomez and improved dramatically at centre back alongside Virgil.
Lifes not a bowl of cherries Im afraid and some people will criticise players performances. If you dont like players being criticised then maybe you should stick to FIFA?

He's done well so far. Did well versus West Ham so Jurgen put him in again. Looks fairly solid and no schoolboy errors either.

And two clean sheets.. :buttrock

I’d like to see him given a fair go, I don’t trust Lovren and Matip looked good then lost it (possibly due to playing with lovren.

It's a bit like when TAA came into the starting eleven, due to Clyne's injury etc and he has blossomed. I think Jurgen gives players a fair crack at the whip, and now Gomez has finally got his chance.

I reckon he will play for a fair few games and hopefully Matip and Lovren can start from the bench, as so far our defence looks fairly solid.

I for one was crying out last season for Gomez to form a partnership with the big Dutch fella and now its finally come to fruition and in our last two games Gomez has even outshone our cornerstone ,dare I say it he brings a similar kind of poise and composure as the big Dane we used to have at the back.

Relax guys Gomez has yet to encounter a real threat..He is still in my book our 4th option at CB..A healthy Matip is miles ahead of him and Lovern with all his donkeyness is better as well..I don't see Joe growing into a top CB in this league..He isn't commending enough and lacks the cool minded required..With all due respect to Brighton..Palace and West ham..

He has coped superbly against some very experienced strong CF - thought he was performance against Murray was very matured and certainly cool minded , didn’t see him in too much trouble and won his battles. He is young and developing well and alongside VVD can only learn more. A few times last year whilst at right back he allowed people in behind him especially when crosses where coming in but he seems fine at the moment , he has always been a CB by nature and glad he is showing how good he is - Lovren has some very strong competition

Really great article about Joe - and it’s also great to see him being recalled into the England squad - he should be a walk in for one of the CB slots
