He's been quite decent in the first half today. Looks very composed on the ball and confident moving forward. He can also defend which is a bonus. Looks like 3.5 mil well spent to me

Ilori should start thinking about cutting his vacation short. Would be nice having him there with the team so we could compare the two.

Rodgers says there's no chance Joe Gomez will go out on loan this season. 'He will stay here and compete for a place.'

That's a lot of CB's competing for a place there. Skrtel, Sakho, Lovren, Toure, Gomez, Ilori and Wisdom. Toure shouldn't have been given a new contract IMO.

Gomez played at right back in the first match of pre season and left back in the second one, so he is pretty adaptable and flexible

Hopefully its true. Kinda of pi$$ed off we let so many of our youngsters go away. I would like to see the likes of Ibe, Tex and yes gomez given game time.

Gomez looks composed on the ball. A mark of a classy player.

What a player this 18 year old is, 3 pre season games in a row, last 2 both at left back, he really looks the real deal

Fast, classy on the ball, he looks like he has everything in his locker

He'll start against Stoke at left back imo. Fantastic prospect.

I'll keep my judgment when he plays an official game.

First time I've really seen him and I have to say he looks the part, I can see now why some people within the game have been comparing him to a young Rio Ferdinand.

Haven't seen any of our pre-season games other than highlights Yakka. But I've picked Gomez in my fantasy football team on your recommendation!

Looks like he'll start at Stoke and everyone seems to have been impressed with him in preseason. Looking forward to watching him.
