Didn't deserve a red IMO, but I wouldn't have been surprised if the ref sent him off.

:wwww

A possible red !!

I obviously missed it , please elaborate .

When he got the yellow. In modern football it could have been red. I didn't say he deserved it, in fact I specifically said that I believe the opposite, but I've seen red cards given for less.

Sorry Mate, just realised that in the "Firmino" thread some of us aren't talking about Firmino !    :p

Thought we were in the Mane thread for some reason :D should have specified better who I was talking about.

Firmino was definitely MOTM for me though, as I've said above :nod

For the first 25 minutes none of our midfield could keep the ball ,without Henderson we struggled to even regain possession ,Gini was pivotal to that win as he dropped in front of the back four to thwart Cities attack whenever Chamberlain and Milner were bypassed,he honestly worked like a Trojan in that first half until we got to grips with the game and Milner and co could wrestle back a semblance of possession. Only Lovren pips him to man of the match.

Getting back to Firmino ,I think he gave the type of battling performance sprinkled with moments of the pure class we have come to expect from him.

Judging by that performance I think it was a good idea to leave him on the bench against WBA.

The man's workrate is phenomenal and relentless  :nod  This season he has turned it up a notch and is proving himself top level. He would be my player of the year only for Salah has had such a ridiculous one.

One thing I noticed against Roma, and also against City in the last tie, when Firmino and Salah go forward they are often outnumbered by the opposition defenders, but still manage to create chances and score goals even though it can be 2 attackers against five defenders. They can still create something out of nothing.

it's a joy to watch.

Mane on the other hand leaves a lot to be desired. His passing/ shooting is off frequently and isn't always on the same wavelength as the others.

I actually think he is more important than Salah but as part of our front three he is part of the best attack in world football. He actually has Liverpool legend written all over him and seems less like the type of South American that will dream of Barca/Real. I don't think I ever heard him complain about the weather  :D

£180K a week 5 year contract and he's now the highest paid player at the club, well done Bobby.

Glad he signed because he had a £80/90m release clause in his old contract.. and even though it's alot of money on current form teams would have tested that clause.
