What makes this deal even better is I've just read that Man utd had agreed a fee in principle with Hoffmeister for this lad and we've rocked up and stole him away from them - if true then that's quality ha ha

Woo hoo!! Can't believe we got the deal done so quick. It's the way we should always operate. Hope he becomes a star for us.

Best signing since Suarez potentially. Don't care about the fee.

Coutinho clearly had a hand in him choosing us. What a guy!

his top five goals...   bring some of this with you lad.

ahh yes - but can he do it on a cold Monday night in Newcastle hehe.

Looking at these goals I think we have found Suarez's replacement, although you obviously have to be careful with YouTube clips..  I look decent on Youtube...

Good signing but holy Sh*t that's a lot of money for a player that has had 2 good seasons in Germany. Thought they said he was around 18-20 million? I guess it explains how we managed to steal him from the mancs in just a few days while they have been negotiating with Hoffenheim for at least a month or so.

Ronaldinho...

"The creativity, intelligence, and goals they have between them can change Liverpool as a team, it is a big sign of intent, for Liverpool to have Coutinho & Firmino is a big achievement for them. They'll have one of the most exciting midfield’s in Europe."

He's a good signing and the most impressive thing about him is his ability to score goals despite not being an out and out forward. He plays behind the forward in a free role (Gerrard behind Torres) and his presence will probably see Coutinho operate from the flank more often than not.

As things stand, we'll still most probably see 2 of Henderson, Milner, Lucas, Allen, Can competing for the CM spots.
With Coutinho, Lallana, Ibe, Markovic, (Milner), Firmino, Sturridge, Balotelli, Ings, Lambert, Borini competing for a maximum of 4 attacking positions.

Will be very interesting seeing how Rodgers decides to set the side up for next season.

We won't have Sturridge at the beginning of the season and I really hope we don't start Firmino as the lone striker because he isnt one.

Personally, I would have had signing 1 or both of Illaramendi/Kovacic as bigger priorities but I hope we still have enough in the bank after this signing to get deals through for them.

Welcome to the club Roberto !

I think we can expect Balo and Borini to def leave with a striker arriving - I think another CM will arrive but who I don't know and possibly Allen or Lucad rumoured to be going

So we could see a CM group off

Henderson/Can/Milner/Ilarra?/Lucas ? Allen ? Kovacic/Lallana

Forward / Attacking group

Coutinho/Firmino/Ibe/Markovic/Ings/Sturridge/Origi/Bacca ? Rondon ?

Could possibly be a lot of very good options

If we can sign Illaramendi and Kovacic and add them to Henderson, Coutinho, Firminho and Sturridge we'd have one hell of a side (starting 11 and subs bench). Even without the extra striker who I dont think would get in the side ahead of Sturridge when he is back (at least none of the names we've been linked with would).

                                      Illaramendi
                       Henderson              Kovacic
                                        Coutinho

                             Firminho            Sturridge

We'd certainly have one of the most if not the most expensive bench on the league with the likes of Balotelli, Lallana, Markovic, Milner, etc. all being big money signings/big wage earners.

I think its time we start selling some players.

The issue is Ace we can't rely on Sturridge

He won't even be fit until Oct and he needs competition as well - whilst Ings and Origi are both potential we need a more established striker there so Bacca would get my vote
