Boxing, snooker, darts all reward participants for losing, boxing more than football.

What a job being a pro footballer is these days, are there any other jobs apart from football and banking that reward failure so much?

I never understand when fans make comments like these, the players are from holiday from work, i dont know a group of guys anywhere that dont go out, have a few drinks and a dance when their on holiday, what are they supposed to do, sit around in their hotels and mope and feel ashamed of themselves until pre season?

I don't find that funny at all.

Its another example of the Fifa corruption, those 'in the money' simply don't care about the consequences of their actions with normal people, ie in this case, Reds fans. Very, very insensitive.

Thy're very public figures who's unprofessional attitude has upset a lot of people. They're NOT school children like you suggest, they're extremely highly paid young men who are supposed to be mature and to understand that such actions could are have been misinterpreted by the public.

When Blair invaded Iraq, d'you think he went off drinking and dancing with his mates in public the following weekend and told people it was ok because it was the weekend and in his free time?

Seriously how can people get offended by this? Do you sit alone in your room and mope the entire summer holiday if you have a bad day at work? Football players are normal people and like anyone else they like to have some fun during their summer holidays. It might even be good for the team spirit.

Comparing it to corruption is a joke.

SO were comparing footballers to Prime Ministers now? that is the most ridiclous anology i have ever heard. The players are on holiday in a job where they get 4 weeks off a year, their entitled to go out and get drunk if they want. Like i said get a group of young guys who work together from any proffesion, send them away on holiday and exactly the same thing would happen, why should footballers be any diffrent.

Well when you play like you don't give a $hit and then party like you don't give a $hit don't be too surprised when people jump to the conclusion that you don't give a $hit.

You do realise this was a goodbye party for Gerrard organised well in advance of last weekends result, if anything Im glad that the team spirit is still stong between the players that they want to go and socialise with each other after such a crushing defeat.

They should be locked up in a cell without windows until they promise not to smile again until they win the league. How dare they enjoy themselves while everyone here is suicidal? Singing and laughing after coming 6th! They shouldnt be allowed to have sex until christmas!!

Correct and such team spirit on display here...sadly it's not on the football field where they are more than well paid to do a job. Their unity are to be applauded so much so they have all their bags packed with their mind on the holidays ("ahem...to celebrate") while on the way to play Stevie's final match. These lot went straight to airport as soon as they finished their mundane chores over at Britannia while those supporters who paid a small ransom to support the club was left wondering wtf was this all about?...but at least they can now tell their grand kids that they witness the biggest arse whopping in our recent history!

I'm sure when the convenient time comes, they (and their agent) will do the typical "I just want to play football", "I want to win trophies" kind of bullshit.

Go on...carry on spinning for these lots and some of you can choose to call those who don't agree with your opinion, wants more from the club, heart broken at what we are seeing this season under the misguidance of your idol, demanded more from the team etc names such as "plastic fans" and "whining committee" etc. Fact is I'm more than happy to be labeled as such supporting the team with passion...much better you lot contented to settled for being average and living happily in mediocrity for life.

You know it has hit rock bottom when the team just suffered a 5 goals whopping in the first 45 mins, players not giving a shit while wearing the shirt, minds on holidays and merely going through the motion yet some ass here choose to be happy calling it team spirit. Get a fucking life will ya and stop all these bullshit...where are your pride watching us got hammered by the mighty Palace and Stoke in consecutive weeks and still choose to look away and pretending we are not in some serious shit? Supporters? deluded more like  :veryangry

We've had players playing for this club in the past who wouldn't have been able to get out of bed for 2 days after a result like that.
Our most humiliating defeat in half a century and hours later the players are partying like they couldn't care less, says it all really. No wonder we are losers and also rans.
Probably had a great night when we got our @rses handed to us by Villa at Wembley too.
When you think that players like Kevin Keegan and Emlyn Hughes got paid a couple of hundred pounds a week and you see that bunch of losers dancing around in a millionaires paradise it just puts everything into perspective.
Then again I'm calling them losers, the real losers are the fans who pay for all this.
5-0 down at half time to a team built around Charlie Adam and Jon Walters  :no
