As of today, our super strikers kill rate in the EPL:

Daniel Sturridge 4
Rickie Lambert 2
Mario Balotelli 1
Fabio Borini 1

Ahh, they were 8 f*cking good goals :nod I remember every one of 'em.

You can shoot all the bluejays you want but its a sin to kick a misunderstood brendan  :D

Fwiw I do think we are a better side than we are currently playing but we need far more than just 1 or 2 star players to achieve anything.
If we'd have still had Suarez I think we would have challenged again this year, as poor as this team currently looks 1 top player player can make a lot of difference.
Or maybe Sanchez....Which was in the market ,belonged to Barca which wanted Suarez and yes his wife didn't want to live in Liverpool...A problem another 5m in her pocket would have resolved...

Leeroy you know what i mean...We had leverage on this deal we had an asset they were desperate to sign ,they had an asset they wanted to offload so yes a mix of pressure + more money to Sanchez/His agent/His wife would have sealed the deal. Money talks. his fetish for London could have disappeared with more millions in his pockets.

surely that's not a good thing? basically being held to randsom by a player?

No it's not a good thing. Far from it...I have deep reservations about BR. His transfers are all over the place and his tactics are sometimes just plain awful.  Yet, I'll still give him another season, simply because of what he did last year.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if he got the boot in a few weeks. FSG have sacked previous managers for less and they don't suffer managers who don't fulfil their promises. In fact, I'd wager a top 4 was a minimum for this season, so will look on as he tries to explain why we failed.

Can, Skrtel and Sakho have been a pretty solid defensive unit for us but they haven't played together as a 3 since the United game. Lucas was instrumental in turning our season around as well but he has basically missed the entire run in.
Imo we are better than we are currently showing and we still have the makings of a very good side but we are crying out for one or two star names though to give the team direction.

Agreed with yakka... Take the emotions out, the current squad is not as bad as they are playing now. A very good cm like Ross Barkley and a top striker could have us challenging for the title. Need to get rid of dross like balotelli, lovren, Johnson and borini though. And maybe we need another CB to replace lovren and toure.

Why ransom? We could have low ball Barca due to the Suarez deal and spend that money directly on Sanchez wages...we are just terrible in cutting deals the insane wages we pay bad and average players prove that.

I see Brendan is saying the same thing in today's papers mate, he's saying the club need to sign 2 marquee players this summer. It won't happen though, FSG's plan is to sign the marquee players of tomorrow, not the stars of today.
Glen Johnson is on the back of the Echo saying there is going to be a clear out this summer and he is part of it so you might get your wish re moving players on.

I don't think that's completely true. FSG stumped up £35 million for Sanchez and agreed to sign Lambert too.

The money was there, we simply signed the WRONG players.

Johnson will leave for free right?

Johnson - Free
Balotelli - 15 million (hopefully)
Lovren - 12 million
Borini - 7 million

Those will finance a 34-35 million player, hopefully we can get Barkley for that. Another 30-35 million pound striker and we will be much stronger...

That was because of Suarez money though...
