Souness on LFC signing Balotelli..."It's an enormous gamble by Rodgers, a gamble I don't think he needs to take because he has a very strong group of players"

I'm not the biggest fan of Mario but I'll have to say...this is bu11shit coming from someone who signed us Neil Ruddock & Julian Dicks

I give it 12 months at most. He won't be at Anfield after this season. He's a loose cannon. Milan want to get rid, 16m for a 24 year old decent striker is worryingly cheap. That's the vibes I'm getting. Don't know about you lot. We paid 25m for Llalana FFS. An unknown! what does that tell you.

This guy can't settle. Yes he scores, but this is another example of how BR does not really have the respect across Europe amongst players to get us the best players.

Van Gaal at Utd has got respect, he managed Holland and coached barca for a while so players respect him.

Rafa did with success at Valencia and the Spanish armada that followed.thats why we got Alonso and Torres etc.

BR does not have that respect.

Rodgers has plenty of respect, just you need oil money to play moneyball with the untouchables.

From all the reports I've read, I gather Mario just wants to play footie. He dosent want to be captain, or a role model for a generation. Go back 30 years and he'd be fine. We expect a different attitude these days. But surely there's still room for players who just want to play and nothing more. Look at Shrek. He hates training. He smokes and enjoys old ladies. He's still at Man U and still playing for England and the press idolises him.
As I say, all sorts of people can be footballers. Not all are saints.

If reports are to be believed, he'll be making 80-90k/week here while he was on 140-150k/week at Milan. If it's true, that should say something in itself.

100% agree.

Although I think that his contract will be heavily loaded with clauses paying him more if he hits personal targets (goals, etc) and club performance targets (Top 4, trophies, etc).

And for what it is worth I think this is completely the right way to structure contracts, to ensure players are motivated to earn. If this is the case for Balotelli, the doubters on here should acknowledge Rodger's, and by extension the transfer committee, role at successful man management and contract negatiation.
